Massdriver 1,055
In one of the rural counties southeast of San Antonio, someone hosted a 600 person wedding. My understanding is there wasn't any masking or distancing going on and there's a massive outbreak. At least 4 people had covid at the wedding and now I'm hearing about dozens of positives in the area. 3

Yes, fact checking is inadequate a response to this brainwashing by the conservative media echo chamber. Not that there is a good way to get to these people, but critiquing that fact checking isn't enough! A lot of people think it's sufficient a counter to the propaganda, and if we fact check another breitbart article or call out Trump's twitter lies someone will see the light
Firewithin 3,571
at this point we just have to hope these vaccines are out early in the year since this shithole country is clearly too dumb to get even a 1% better at anything. other than dying.....we are good at dying

This. More people in this world need to see the documentary, The Brainwashing of My Dad. It's a great deep drive into the origins of conservative media and how it sinks its hooks into its audience.

I mean, there is a lot of mental gymnastics going on in that letter, but the bottom line is that without federal help some of these businesses are being faced with the choice of defying the order or compliance that guarentees going out of business, right? This should be quite simple: shut everything down, send everyone checks. Deficits don't matter, so don't worry about that. But of course, America is populated with morons and governed by even more moronic ones, so we will continue to have the worst response of any country in the world. 1

Littleronin 836
it almost feels like he will be arguing that 'if this administration attempted to do anything, you wouldn't have those final memories be arguments about how your vote for Biden was a vote to throw America to the hounds of hell that is socialism." Actually, I'm pretty sure that is exactly what this admin wants to happen.

You're so nose blind to so much in your daily life and once you lose that sense, you quickly start to realize how much you actually utilize it. I lost mine briefly when I had sinus surgery due to having tubes in my nasal cavities. Was a nervous few days hoping it would fully return after the tubes were removed. mclumber1 3,414
I like this idea: Give people money if they get the vaccine. It doesn't have to be a large amount, but it would probably help to get more people to willingly vaccinate, and it would boost the economy somewhat.

It's a good idea in principle, but there also needs to be money (that can't be abused) for people who can't receive vaccines, for whom the entire point of vaccines is her immunity so that they are no longer at risk. Those people are also more likely to be disabled and need the financial assistance more than able-bodied people. But in general, I do like the idea of an incentive.
