Its got nothing to do with liberal media fact checking methods, because they just don't see any of it, its 24/7 Conservative talk radio and TV.

Yes, fact checking is inadequate a response to this brainwashing by the conservative media echo chamber. Not that there is a good way to get to these people, but critiquing that fact checking isn't enough! A lot of people think it's sufficient a counter to the propaganda, and if we fact check another breitbart article or call out Trump's twitter lies someone will see the light

This.  More people in this world need to see the documentary, The Brainwashing of My Dad.  It's a great deep drive into the origins of conservative media and how it sinks its hooks into its audience.

:( I hope you can recover and get through this safely.

Thanks man. I think I'm through the worst of it and only had mild symptoms. Though, funnily enough, an hour after getting the confirmation of being positive I started losing my sense of taste and smell. I opened up a Coke to scratch my sore throat and didn't get any taste at all. My wife lost her sense of taste and smell much earlier.

I mean, there is a lot of mental gymnastics going on in that letter, but the bottom line is that without federal help some of these businesses are being faced with the choice of defying the order or compliance that guarentees going out of business, right?

The point of these regulations is to enforce them. Shut them down. Sorry folks

Businesses definitely need more relief, though.  Particularly small businesses.

We should take the opportunity to experiment with a temporary business UBI :p  Then a real UBI will be a more widely considered policy.

Of course. This should be quite simple: shut everything down, send everyone checks. Deficits don't matter, so don't worry about that.

But of course, America is populated with morons and governed by even more moronic ones, so we will continue to have the worst response of any country in the world.

I agree. But if we're making laws, enforce them or they are not actually law

it almost feels like he will be arguing that 'if this administration attempted to do anything, you wouldn't have those final memories be arguments about how your vote for Biden was a vote to throw America to the hounds of hell that is socialism."

Actually, I'm pretty sure that is exactly what this admin wants to happen.

It's such a bizarre sensation to lose your sense of smell.  You're so nose blind to so much in your daily life and once you lose that sense, you quickly start to realize how much you actually utilize it.  I lost mine briefly when I had sinus surgery due to having tubes in my nasal cavities.  Was a nervous few days hoping it would fully return after the tubes were removed.

all Republicans, I can empathize this enough, are fucking assholes

I hope a toilet seat falls from the space station and lands on Cruz's head.

And btw, if you use the phrase "virtue signaling" unironically then you have nothing worthwhile to say, have never had anything worthwhile to say, and will never have anything worthwhile to say. That, and you are dumber than a box of rocks.

It's a good idea in principle, but there also needs to be money (that can't be abused) for people who can't receive vaccines, for whom the entire point of vaccines is her immunity so that they are no longer at risk. Those people are also more likely to be disabled and need the financial assistance more than able-bodied people. But in general, I do like the idea of an incentive.

I distinctly remember learning in my studies that tying monetary reward to civic acts tends to reduce participation (the example we always learned was about blood donations), so I don’t know if that idea is particularly sound.

There is a continuous need for blood donations though.  HOPEFULLY we all only need to get vaccinated once against this virus.

Counterpoint to this Owner. There was an idiot in Ontario who after going in for his covid test went to the gym while waiting for his results to come back which was positive. People are massive idiots so it's not a case of if but a case of when, for them having a covid positive person coming in and getting them/their staff/others sick.
