I worry that these pills will just further encourage selfish assholes to not get vaccinated.

There are billions of people waiting to get vaccinated around the world. We desperately need therapeutics. We also will eventually deal with waning protection of immunity, so having medication that reduces the toll of the virus is going to be important over the next few years until Covid eventually becomes more mild.

Would you continue to get them even there is no end in sight?

As long as the negative impact of the shot to me remains negligible, and the societal risk of the virus remains high, yes.

But I’ve been diabetic since childhood, so taking shots regularly doesn’t phase me :p

The flu waxes and wanes with different variants appearing each season, and that's why we need to get a flu shot every year. And that immunity builds up through our lifetime (as our natural immune system effectiveness decreases).

If Covid is endemic and will continue to circulate, then yes, I will gladly get a yearly Covid booster just like I get a yearly flu shot.

Question Mark What GIF by MOODMAN

Oh yeah, my favorite godlikeproductions.com ( @Commissar SFLUFAN apologies if posting this is not allowed) is beyond hilarious. End up there looking to build a DIY observatory on the family land; a couple people on the site have observatories that you can remote in and use; found the other content and get a good laugh at least once a month.

Nah, it's totally fine with him as @Rachel usually says.

What data specifically is informing your decision to stay unvaxxed? What sources are you reading, watching, etc?

CDC (data, high level individuals inside), NIH (published studies, etc..), Cleveland Clinic (doctors | executive management inside), data out of Israel. From a data perspective its the survivability rate; its just not something that is an issue for the vast majority of the population, especially the buckets with which I am in, so it doesn't drive a cause for action.

You know what, I'll agree that, because I'm generally healthy, fit, with no underlining conditions, I can "selfishly" wait and see as more information comes. Lord willing, I can live with that.

Have to make this clear; I'm not against it for people that are at risk (not an anit-vaxxer | masker), I'm just not keen on it for me at the moment (based on the current information available).

You quantified your reasoning to not get vaccinated earlier by saying the science and math align with your opinion, and you don't see how getting vaccinated would benefit the greater good.

This data (a five second google search away) proves that your claim is false, even as far as the delta variant is concerned (and yes, 66% effectiveness is still a dramatic improvement over no vaccination at all) .

This report describes COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness in adults aged 65 years and older.

Here is what we know about how well the major Covid-19 vaccines perform against the Delta variant, both in terms of preventing infection and preventing serious illness.

You now have no excuse to be willfully ignorant. If you still choose to not get vaccinated, you're objectively doing so out of a personal truth with a flawed and demonstrably harmful premise that's putting yourself and people around you in jeopardy and contributing to Covid mutating and being harder to deal with.  Believe what you want, but almost all the points you've made in this thread are operating from feels over reals reasoning, and that's why your takes here are getting pushback. ^_^

I’ve run the numbers!

I have the paste!

My bad I deleted that question after noticing you already answered it in some earlier posts.  Based on what I'm able to decipher from your replies I think we're gonna have to agree to disagree on pretty much everything, though for what is worth you seem like a very interesting person!

No problems there, being able to agree to disagree keeps the channels of communication open, so important, its always my goal.

Appreciate the sentiment. I tell the strippers when they come sit down looking for money, I'm the most interesting person they'll meet tonight, and that's how I'm paying. 9.9 times out of ten, they get naked, and leave entertained when my food shows up (the real reason I'm there). Edit: note, I haven't been to sit down since Feb 2020 when the wife I went. We have gone to pick up food a couple time. Covid precautions.
