What artists do you constantly mix up?

Inspired by @skillzdadirecta's complete inability to distinguish between Werner Herzog and Lars von Trier, what artists (any medium) do you consistently mix up?

Personally, I constantly mix up Roger Deakins and Hoyte van Hoytema. Their styles are similar, they are equally brilliant, and they've both worked with Sam Mendes, which is a recipe for me never knowing which one has worked on what film.

Manet and Monet.  They were acquainted and I think clearly took inspiration from each other.  As Manet moved further away from realism into impressionism their styles seemed to blend.  Monet was more of a pure impressionist while Manet kind of rode the line between realism and impressionism, but with some of their later works it's tough for an amateur eye to tell the difference between them unless you know about a given piece beforehand.

I somehow have this fucking brain malfunction where I constantly mix up The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees.

Yes, I somehow live a life where I had to question this difference within a conversation several times by now...

@skillzdadirecta Here's the difference: Werner Herzog has made good stuff. Lars von Trier is to David Lynch what Showgirls is to Casino...only not incredibly fucking entertaining.

Tell me about it!

I don't quite understand why it happens myself!

Because you don't see with your eyes, you see with your brain. Complicating that is the structure of memories and how they're recalled which is more like pulling up the right metadata. Problem is when the brain's metadata for memories is incredibly similar it can bring up the wrong memory. This is why children often call their teacher's "mom" or parents mix up the names of their kids because this info is all in the same memory bucket and your brain hauls up the bucket rather than the individual memory.
