US leaving northern Syria to the Turks (also leaving them in charge of the captured ISIS fighters)

Morality of abandoning the Kurds aside, he's blowing a massive strategic opportunity. Let the Kurds declare Kurdistan out of their territory in Iraq and Syria (but not Turkey) and withdraw all US Central Command Forces (except 5th Fleet obviously) to Kurdistan giving it the Israeli deal (defacto mutual defense treaty). That gets us out from under every corrupt regime in the region that's screwed us over while maintaining a strategic presence.

Obama's foreign policy was pretty damn good. Obama would not have abandoned the Kurds.

Obama didn't ignore threats. He caught a shit load of flack because he conducted too many drone strikes. He was a bit to cowboyish for me even, but I think he acted appropriately 80% of the time. He screwed up by completely pulling out of Iraq, but you have to look at why he did that. It's complicated stuff. Trump is just doing shit without good reason, thinking he's a genius while doing it. Intervening the way Obama did in Syria probably saved quite a few lives without putting too many Americans at risk. It's easy to attack him, but there were never any great options there.

Fuck this. It seems like the Kurds were the group that always worked with us in a competent way over there and now we are fucking them over by letting the Turks have their way? The same nutcase is still in charge in Turkey, isn't he? Fuck you Trump again.

If the world was more just, an independent Kurdistan would be the strongest US ally in the region, along with Iran (which would be more moderate as a result).

ding ding ding. Unfortunately "strategic imagination" got cut from the politician's job description and was replaced with "expert corporate fundraiser".
