mclumber1
Go for it. I don't give a shit if Biden testifies. Whether he or his son committed criminal acts in Ukraine doesn't absolve Trump of his own criminal acts. If I break into your house and find a pound of cocaine, I'll still be prosecuted for breaking and entering.

Nokra
It's so infuriating. They don't even want to have the semblance of objectivity by calling witness or following the rules; it's more important that "their side wins".

Reputator
https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/23/politics/trump-pew-poll-break-law/index.html Quote One in three Republican voters (32%) in a new Pew national poll say that Donald Trump "probably" or "definitely" did something illegal either while running for president or during his first three years in office. That same Pew poll shows that just one in 10 (12%) of those same Republicans thought that Trump should be removed from office by the Senate impeachment trial. By contrast, 86% of Republicans believed Trump should not be removed. The other interpretation is this: Yes, these Republicans think Trump has done something illegal during his political career or as president. But they simply don't believe that breaking the law should be punished with removal from office. Likely because Trump is on the same team as them. The Point: If party tribalism trumps -- ahem -- a commitment to following the rules, well, we are in a very bad place. That's really what it's come down to. We have regressed to a state of tribalism.

Look it's a figure of speech, folks. Obviously no one is taking that statement literally, except the fake news media who continue to blow things out of proportion. Just like how the liberal Democrats continue to lie and distort the President's perfect phone call with the Ukrainian president, with this sham impeachment." Trump, at his next rally: "That would be something to see though, wouldn't it? *motions cutting off someone's head and sticking it on a pike* Huh? Am I right?" *audience cheers*

Guest
It doesn’t help that the talking heads in our entertainment news equate all things Trump does with being crimes. It waters down what could be actual crimes. The conservative talking heads have done the same thing with the Clintons for decades now, such that it’s a running gag about HRC clearly violating the law with her personal server. When you say everything is a crime, nothing is a crime.

When you say everything is a crime, nothing is a crime. A lot of people think our laws are moral, so when they see immoral actions by the government, they think it must be illegal. But the reality of our empire is that morality and legality have nothing to do with one another
