Out of curiosity, what's stopping them from releasing this in most territories on its original release date but postponing China's release date? Or do they just want to wait until the entire virus news is in the backburner (still seems like a super long delay)?

If they give too much time everyone in China will just have seen bootleg versions and won’t go to theaters.

That’s not a great excuse. You could probably find a pirate copy of it right now.

Those who enjoy movies are going to see it in theaters no matter when it releases.

We’re definitely like that, but I don’t think the Chinese market is as patient. Bootlegs don’t get wide spread until theatrical screenings happen.

What happens if next November the situation is worse or hasn't improved in China/WW? I wonder if other movies will be pushed back?

yeah, I wonder if this will be a big hit to movie budgets. China does a a lot of movie financing these days.

I wonder if China will set up a pay per view people can stream at home to try and sell something.

I’m hate how much Hollywood relies on China these days.

The major studio system as we know it could very well collapse if we ever go to war with them.

Possibly. Or budgets would shrink down to $80million for even the biggest Marvel movie. With scaled back special effects.
