Movies Knives Out - a Murder Mystery by Rian Johnson ft. a Stacked Cast

Recommended Posts

I think a murder mystery is a perfect genre for Johnson. Looks like a ton of fun, and it comes out this year.

It's written and directed by Rian Johnson. I mean, this is the guy who gave us Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Looper, and Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi. Yeah, I'm there - looks fantastic.

My favorite thing about this is how many of the actors are playing at least a little out of their element, character wise. Should be a blast.

Yep that looks awesome. Hopefully it stays a whodunnit throughout the movie and doesn’t devolve into some weird pseudo action/chase movie in the 3rd act.

"Plot twist: This is actually an alternate universe Cap popped in to while returning the Infinity Stones...😱"

Everything about this film seems designed to get me back to the cinema for the first time since...ummm...since...I can't remember.

Reviews are terrific, so I shall be watching this in theaters. I love a good murder mystery, and I haven't gotten one like this really since Clue in 1985.

How'd you see it? @sblfilms You been Kal all this time?

There were some “preview” screenings this weekend. The biggest downside to my new job is that I work both evenings and weekends, so I couldn’t make the 7:30 show near me.

They had an early showing at a couple places near me. Some of the movie was shot near Boston; after the previews the theater let us know that a bunch of the crew was in the audience, so they got a shoutout from the theater before and after the movie which was pretty cool.

I was listening to a review/critique on NPR yesterday. Man, did it ever get me excited, not just for this film, but to watch other nior and mystery films I've missed like Brick and Gosford Park.

Oh man, Brick is a personal favorite of mine. It's streaming on Netflix.

See this flick with an audience. It plays sooooo well to an engaged crowd. Even the teenager sitting next to me that made sure we all knew he didn’t want to be there and it was his parents dragging was all in by the end. Great theater experience.

I went through a whole Noir phase when LA Noire came out. I can confidently say that they plus Murder mysteries are my absolute favorite genre.

Because @TheLeon mentioned it, not only Brick, but Gosford Park as well are both on Netflix.

Gonna try to watch at least some of Brick today (busy Thanksgiving weekend and packing to do today) and get on that!
