What big games are left this year? What are you excited for and buying?

Soooo... E3 was... meh. The majority of “big games” shown seemed like they were mostly 2020 titles... what’s left this year? What are YOU excited for and buying on day one or near day one?

For me, I can’t think of much...

Pokemon Sword/Shield

Gears 5 but via Gamepass since I did that “Ultimate” trick and have it until May 2022 for like ~$120 total

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Maybe Doom Eternal

Death Stranding is most certainly a rental for me and is, so far, turning me into a Konami sympathizer. There’s also Shenmue 3 which looks “ehhh” to me. I’ll also probably pick up that VR Wolfenstein game when it goes on sale.

So, what about YOU?!?

Not much has me day one excited for the rest of this year.  It'll be a good year time to catch up on the backlog and buy some past indies for cheap.

If reviews turn out well, I'd be most interested in:

Death Stranding

Luigi's Mansion 3

Astral Chain

Indivisible

Control

Star Wars: Fallen Order

I'll probably also pick up Cadence of Hyrule at some point.

Control

Doom Eternal

Link Awakening

Outer Worlds

Dragon Quest Builders 2

Super Mario Maker 2

Ni No Kuni Remaster

Catherine Full Body

Hollow Knight: Silksong (assuming this year. They only said "soon" at E3)

Doom: Eternal

Borderlands 3

Luigi's Mansion 3

Link's Awakening

Mario Maker 2

Jedi Fallen Order

Maybe

Bloodstained

Fire Emblem (never played one these, but I'm interested)

Gears 5

Outer Worlds seems like a pretty sure thing. Awesome that it's on Gamepass.

Control looks interesting, and I feel like it's either going to be awesome or really suck.

I'm not convinced that Jedi Fallen Order makes it out this year. If it does, I think it'll likely be worth a buy.

I didn't play the other Luigi's Mansion games, but 3 looks good.

I actually have "negative interest" in Death Stranding.  By that I mean that its very existence diminishes my interest in other games.

I loved your sheer hatred for it in the Death Stranding thread!

Which brings me to the only 'big' game I'm looking forward to particularly this year:

Death Stranding.

I'd add Doom Eternal if they hadn't doubled down on the terrible aesthetics of the first reboot title. I'm really enjoying the gameplay for that one now and I assume the sequel will be fun in that regard as well but those aesthetics overall knock it down to a sale title for me.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Super Mario Maker 2

Dragon Quest Builders 2

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

Collection of Mana

Astral Chain

Samurai Shodown

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Pokemon Sword/Shield

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition S // Super Turbo Championship Revival Edition + Knuckles, also featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series Plus +

Maybe Daemon X Machina

And not sure if this counts, but I’m also looking forward to the eventual release of the final Shovel Knight DLC.

Control - Already bought during the EGS $10 off sale. I couldn't care less about what platform I buy a game from, I buy the games I want. I've been multi console for two decades, PC stores are nothing compared to that.

The Outer Worlds - Gamepass

Borderlands 3 - I'm not sure if I want to go PC or stick with Xbox.

Bloodstained - Maybe, probably. GMG has 20% off right now.

Something else will probably get my attention as we go through the year, but I'm trying to focus down my backlog more and buy fewer games.

Borderlands 3

Outer Worlds

Jedi Fallen Order

not sure beyond that.

I will probably get the new Destiny 2 expansion, Shadow Keep. Not sure about the annual pass though. If it is like this year’s annual pass, I’m not sure how much will entice me to keep playing. Season of Opulence may be the best of the annual pass content, but I feel burned out. It still requires replaying the same content I’ve been played over and over since year 1 and Forsaken, and it just feels like the gaming equivalent to doing chores.
