I am amazed at the ability developers have of taking a neat basic concept and then wrapping it in the ugliest, boringest, most visually unappealing art style imaginable outside of like, deformed clay people. Gotta get some of these fucking artists to go back and play some late 90s/early 2000s games with colors and art design and something besides just semi-realistic men shooting guns in a brown desert environment. I look at those screenshots and I think I'd be more excited about the game had I never seen them and had only read about it.

I’d prefer the deformed clay people to this actually. And the sad thing is this developer did take your advise and made BulletStorm, now they are ditching it and making this generic looking thing.

I gaze into my crystal ball and see Jeep commercial music with hyper-dramatic story beats, "visceral" third-person shooting, a skill tree, a "semi-open world", AI partners aka constantly repeating hint system, nu-macho tough guy sensitivity, season passes and microtransactions for superficial shit because that's still in "hip company" territory and won't anger ERA enough to start a Twitter harassment campaign.

Or the slo mo part where the music comes to an almost hault and they shoot the gun and it's a really cool moment!

RPS reminds us that several of the people from People Can Fly have moved on and formed The Astronauts who brought us The Vanishing of Ethan Carter and soon to be released Witchfire

 

 

 

So this is basically a game with the name of the developer attached not necessarily the people who worked at that developer.

Huh, I came away from the reveal and gameplay with a totally different impression than the rest of the thread. I had zero expectations for the game, but what they showed now has me interested. It's like The Division with powers and cool guns, or Destiny without all of the abilities being nerfed to crap so they can be balanced in pvp. That plus, supposedly, the game will ship with an endgame already included and isn't going to try to nickel and dime "live service" it's players.

It does look like it's too grim and gritty/edgy dialogue wise though.

I'm cautiously hopeful.

Fuck, my crystal ball prediction was inaccurate. I assumed it'd be AAA Simulator: 2020, yet it's AAA Simulator: 2006.

 

Two generations later and we still get Gears 1 clones complete with stiff press-A wall hug animations and goofy looking waist-high indestructible cover everywhere in a war zone for no apparent reason.

 

It's not even that it wasn't a fun formula but this has to be some of the most bland, played out and loaded with edgy cliches game I've seen in a while...and this is next gen.  I'd love to see new gameplay possibilities, AI and physics and shit, not Gears Of War 1 HHHHD.

This looks like it has pre-gears shooting mechanics of mostly unusable cover and just stiffly strafing around chest high walls. I don't think I've seen a AAA offering look this shitty in the last decade.
