ShreddieMercury
I bought the Doom trilogy on Switch since it was heavily discounted, and I'm having a blast with Doom I and II. I didn't realize how well they hold up, and the add ons are all really fun. I'm also working my way through Doom 2016 again and it's way better than I remembered. I'm really excited for this one now. The multiplayer may be nothing to write home about, but the campaign deserves your undivided attention. The Digital Fix - 9 / 10 Quote Despite its rather lacklustre story, and irritating platforming mechanics, Doom Eternal takes all the best elements from its prequel, polishes, refines and adds a mixture of new strategy, combat and gunplay elements to produce one of the most enjoyable FPS on the market today. Literally. IGN Spain - Spanish - 8.7 / 10 Quote Despite not being very convinced by its triple system of obtaining combat resources, Doom Eternal is as frantic as you might expect. A long campaign with inspired arenas... not accompanied by an interesting story despite the narrative efforts. Bazimag - Persian - 8.5 / 10 Quote DOOM Eternal is a worthy sequel for Doom 2016; Even though its evolution is not as It should have been. Despite all the improvements, the game has a few flaws that don't let the game be a completely flawless shooter. That being said, DOOM Eternal is not only one of the best first-person shooters of 8th generation, but is one of the best first-person shooters ever created and just like the previous installment is different than other titles in its genre. Fast and delightful gameplay alongside eye-catching visuals and great soundtrack, have brought an immensely thrilling experience that you can't find anywhere else. Destructoid - 8.5 / 10 Quote Doom Eternal keeps the strong foundation built back in 2016 intact, while adding some of its own panache in the process. I think we can officially declare that the last iteration wasn't just a lone fluke, and that Doom is back in the shooter spotlight where it belongs. Flickering Myth - 8.5 / 10 Quote Doom Eternal is just about everything fans could want a Doom sequel to be; muscular, intense, and compulsively addictive, complete with one of the best single-player FPS campaigns in years. GameGrin - 8.5 / 10 Quote A great, if disjointed, continuation of the demon killing franchise. Visually stunning, tight controls and satisfying combat make for an exciting and enjoyable experience. GameWatcher - 8.5 / 10 Quote Hell hath no fury like a Doom Slayer pissed off Gamersky - Chinese - 8.5 / 10 Quote Overall Doom Eternal looks gorgeous, shoots sweetly and contains tremendous fun when played against other bloodthirsty players. But it is still lack of some polish on multiplayer gameplay contents. LevelUp - Spanish - 8.5 / 10 Quote Doom Eternal is one of the best FPS that exists today. We can even say that it far exceeds the original. However, not everything shines with the same intensity; the story is confusing and unnecessary, the platform sections are tedious, the new visual identity is generic. In general, you can notice a change of direction towards a game as a service for the wrong reasons. Doom Eternal finds himself caught in the eternal conflict of finding his own identity. 3DNews - Russian - 8 / 10 Quote DOOM Eternal is, probably, the fastest and most brutal shooter on the market. But reworked combat system, a lot of (not so fluent) platforming elements and some other small issues here and there are keeping the sequel from beating the almost perfect DOOM 2016. Areajugones - Spanish - 8 / 10 Quote DOOM returns to offer us another installment loaded with wonderful and vertical battles full of rawness and to rhythm of heavy metal. Although they have impressed us again in the shooter aspect, DOOM Eternal adds more content to the game, as well as parts of the platform, which we do not see clearly its contribution and make us miss the simplicity of this franchise. Cerealkillerz - German - 8 / 10 Quote Doom Eternal enters the FPS-Arena with lots of gameplay/enemy variety und a lot more fast paced action. Sadly that is everything good the game brings to the table. The game doesn't do much to overtrump its predecessor and the game could live without a lot of the new features better, especially the battlemode multiplayer. If you looking for just some more Doom, you'll still get some fun out of it. EGM - 8 / 10 Quote As long as Doom Eternal didn't stray too far from its predecessor, it was going to be a good game. But id Software comes surprisingly close to muddying everything with new mechanics. The flamethrower and rechargeable chainsaw give you more options during battle, but they can also feel like unnecessary additions. Still, a deeper lore, a banging soundtrack, and plenty of demons to gib leave Doom Eternal in a happy place—relatively speaking. GameSpot - 8 / 10 Quote Doom Eternal intensifies the battles with Hell's hordes by requiring you to constantly calculate the best ways to rip, tear, and stay alive. Gameblog - French - 8 / 10 Quote DOOM Eternal is a good sequel to the 2016 game, and adds interesting platform phases. Hardcore Gamer - 4 / 5 Quote When everything comes together, Doom Eternal’s combat, mobility and levels combine to create one of the most satisfying gameplay loops and FPS campaigns in years. The Doom Slayer came, he sawed and he lived up to his reputation. Metro GameCentral - 8 / 10 Quote A significant improvement on the reboot and while there are still a few flaws the core combat is some of the best in any first person shooter this generation. Niche Gamer - 8 / 10 Quote The annoying self-aware memes can be ignored, and if you don’t care for Doom guy depicted in third person cutscenes, they are easily skipped. Doom Eternal lives up to its name in proving that it is going to be here for a long time. NoobFeed - 80 / 100 Quote DOOM Eternal takes everyone players loved about DOOM and gives us more. With the Doom Slayer ripping and tearing through hordes of demons in various closed arenas. DOOM Eternal provides classic FPS action for the modern age that demands precision and mobility as the demons of Hell try to tear the flesh from your bones. But despite the strong campaign issues with how the lore is delivered and lacking multiplayer options hinder this incredible title. OnlySP - 4 / 5 stars Quote DOOM Eternal is as much of a benchmark in design for id Software and Bethesda as it is the entire genre of FPS games as a whole. Paste Magazine - 8 / 10 Quote I ran, I jumped, I killed. And I died. A lot. And these days, that's enough. Post Arcade (National Post) - 8 / 10 Quote Id Software's latest shooter is truly a gamer's game, fully focused on glorified violence and addictive action Shacknews - 8 / 10 Quote As a whole, Doom Eternal is a solid game, and a great sequel. TrustedReviews - 4 / 5 stars Quote Doom (2016) turns things up to 11 for the beloved demon-mulching shooter series. With Doom Eternal, id Software cranks the volume up to 20. There’s a booming soundtrack, pulse-raising action and stunning hellish landscapes aplenty, but the sequel still isn’t without its flaws. USgamer - 4 / 5 stars Quote Doom Eternal mostly manages to avoid the bloat that plagues other sequels, but it also roughs up that perfect pacing with more lore, sometimes muddy platforming, and more collectibles to find. VG247 - 4 / 5 stars Quote This is the strongest Doom has ever been. VideoGamer - 8 / 10 Quote It's only when you stop playing, feeling somehow frazzled, energised, and jittery, that you realise the game has as much in common with the audiovisual arts as it does with a double-shot of espresso. GameZone - 7.5 / 10 Quote Doom Eternal's issues feel like a victim of ambition. They wanted to double down on the balls to the walls craziness and instead of saying no to some ideas, it feels like they crammed absolutely everything into the game. While Eternal manages to still be very fun and a worthy entry in this legendary franchise, it needs to realize there is such a thing as too much of a good thing sometimes. Cheat Code Central - 3.5 / 5 Quote It’s weird to feel so disappointed by something so awesome. DOOM Eternal is a constant state of whiplash between being in absolute awe at the game’s mechanical brilliance, only to be snatched in the extreme opposite direction by stale storytelling and environmental padding. GamesRadar+ - 3.5 / 5 stars Quote Doom Eternal is a smart iteration of what came before it that occasionally stumbles under its own desire to evolve Slant Magazine - 3.5 / 5 stars Quote There's something primal and thrilling to id Software's further embrace of video-gamey conventions. Thumbsticks - 3 / 5 stars Quote Doom Eternal features all the raw, raucous action of the 2016 reboot, but for reasons we can’t comprehend, is dragged out to an interminable length. Technically solid, blistering in parts, but lacking in soul. ACG - Buy Quote Fast paced with a unique combination of combat and platforming. While not perfect, it is a fantastic ride. Ars Technica - Unscored Quote Doom Eternal is a thrilling return to form and a high-water mark for fast-paced twitch shooting. Buy it. Eurogamer - No Recommendation / Blank Quote An even faster and bloodier but slightly wayward follow-up to a thunderous shooter reboot. Expansive - Loved Quote Just thinking about the game’s rip-roaring heavy metal soundtrack, hordes of enemies, killer arsenal set, and speedy action is making my heart pump. DOOM Eternal takes what you loved about the 2016 reboot, and makes it louder, faster, more graphic, intense and involving. GameXplain - Loved Quote Video Review - Quote not available Player2.net.au - B+ Quote A far more brutal experience than its predecessor, Doom Eternal isn’t for the weak, but master the ruleset and you’re in for a hell of a time. Polygon - Polygon Recommends Quote Doom Eternal’s power fantasy is funny, playful, and a welcome break Rock, Paper, Shotgun - RPS Bestest Bests Quote Doom Eternal is a lot like the last game, but better. Wccftech - Unscored Quote Until then, I'll just keep it simple. Doom Eternal is a brilliant game, one that is a worthy successor to the previous release. While the game does stumble here and there, trying to be something that it really shouldn't be, the outstanding gameplay more than makes up for any issues. Going by the campaign alone, Doom Eternal is well worth your time and money, particularly so if you liked Doom.
