Did you beat it? I haven't yet but plan on it before the end of the year. Put 120 hours into it though.

No, I didn't beat it. Like I mentioned above, in a gaming drought I may go back to it and try and beat it. I think I have 86 hours in.

I also took a break and returned to it a couple days ago. I'm like 140 hours in and only at the Royal Capital so I still have a long way to go. But as I mentioned in the GOW thread I was just in awe of how expansive everything was. I would like to stick with it going forward.

I fucking love the royal capital. The music just does it for me.

I'm level 305 and have completed the game 3 times. I'll hold off on additional ER trips until the DLC drops.

What build did you use and if I remember correctly, you did something that made the game easier? I might be wrong here. I think I want to start this game over with a new build and find a away to make this game easier for me.

I started as a str/dex build, but at level 305 I can be any build I want to be! I am using the Azur Star blue beam of death.

I thought you did something else to make it easier? Any links you could provide to help me out?

Try this:

Elden Ring's Comet Azur is an impressively powerful Sorcery, and it can become even more OP with this build.

To respec your stats in Elden Ring you need Larval Tears, a rare consumable item hidden in The Lands Between

I had a whole bunch of larval tears not even trying to get them specifically, I’m sure you have at least a couple! You’ll never beat this if you start over lol it’s so damn long, respec and go for the end!

There isn’t really much story to see over again, and you can just go back to any of the old areas if you want. I don’t think there is much to gain by starting over unless you only want to play the beginning and don’t want to play what’s next. If you want to be stronger youd still be better off grinding from where you are now.

That's some homework for me. Thank you.

Fuck. I'm conflicted to respec or just grind out my current character and beat it that way. I'll definitely not start over because you made very good points. I just really have the itch to go back to this now so I will have to decide what I'll do. Thanks for the info.

Yes but not fully inside to unlock the next area.

Oh yeah you gotta explore that whole area it’s amazing. But you are reasonably close, about to head towards the end game. One of the areas right before the end you definitely gotta see.

edit: I should say that by end game I mean like 40 hours left with this game :P

Ok. I think I'm attempting this after I beat A Plagues Tale Requiem.

If I grind my current character to say level 100, would that make be tough enough to beat this game? I can't remember exactly what level I am but I know it's in the 80s.

"tough enough" is quite variable as a target, depending on your apptitude for these games. That said, I consider myself a fairly average gamer and cleared the first run through at level 127, if I recall correctly.

I was like 150 and some stuff was easy towards the end but for the main bosses you will want to summon someone to assist.

I had 4 main bosses to go before "beating" the game, and then decided to make a new character where I proceeded to actually beat the game. Starting over was kind of fun, because I had a general idea where things were and could focus money and smithing stones on upgrades I knew I wanted, which made me more powerful earlier in the game. On my first playthrough, any weapon that looked cool I upgraded, and when I found a new one I upgraded that, and so on. But doing that gets really expensive, and there are only a limited amount of Ancient Dragon smithing stones you can get.

I did try to summon help for Starscourge Radahn and it failed every single time. He was impossible for me to beat and he is one of the main bosses. I have a lot of leveling to do to be successful it seems. Kinda sucks.  😕

So uh, I never picked the game up after "taking a break". I burnt myself out somewhere a bit into the snow/ice world. I'd be clueless if I went back now so I'm just gonna leave it at that.

This is what I'm concerned about too. I totally forget the mechanics so I wanted to start over fresh. I'm advised not too but I'm confused lol.

Its just the game never really guides you much anyway. Just resume and explore it like it was a sequel or something!

True. I'll go to easier spots to polish up my skills and relearn the mechanics.

That's good. I hope the summoning was fixed for that particular boss. I'm actually looking forward to going back to that world. It was fascinating.

I have to do the same thing. I was pretty close to the end and I want to wrap this game up before the end of the year. I need to finalize my top five of 2022... pretty sure this game is number one for me. The other four may suprise a lot of folks :p

Before I stopped. I have Forbidden West but haven't started it yet because I STILL haven't beaten the first game. Haven't played either Plagues Tale.

Ok. Well my top 3 are:

1. Elden Ring

2. GOW Ragnarok

3. Horizon Forbidden West

I'm starting up A Plagues Tale Requiem tonight. It's a lot of people's goty so I'm definitely interested to see if it beats out either Ragnarok or Forbidden West. Elden Ring is an absolute classic and can't be touched this year.

I don't think horizon would make my top 10 this year. Good game, but I didn't love it.
