"The primary reason we've looked at redesigning the currency is for counterfeiting issues," Mnuchin said when asked by Rep. Ayanna Pressley, D-Mass., whether the new currency would be ready on time. "Based upon this, the $20 bill will now not come out until 2028. The $10 bill and the $50 bill will come out with new features beforehand. "The ultimate decision on the redesign will most likely be another secretary's down the road." Mnuchin explained during his appearance before the House Financial Services Committee that his department would "meet the security feature redesign in 2020" but "the imagery feature will not be an issue that comes up until, most likely, 2026." After then-President Barrack Obama said he thought putting more women on U.S. currency was a "pretty good idea," Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew asked for public comment about which woman should be added. A better comparison for how long the brain trust in the Trump administration could take to not fuck it up might more closely resemble the North Korea’s rocket program.
