Mr.Vic20 Posted May 22, 2019 Author Posted May 22, 2019 Consider, for a moment, how good the hair on your Javelin will look! Quote
Brian Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Seems like a waste of resources to update an engine no one wants to use. 2 Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 This is clearly for the next FIFA and all the women's teams they put such detail into. Quote
number305 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Glad this is being addressed. We have been saying for a while the major problem with EA games was the hair. Quote

Mercury33 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Ugh just throw that piece of shit engine in the trash already. Quote
Spork3245 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 That’s incredibly impressive and beats hair works by a lot. I wonder what the performance cost is, though? Quote
TwinIon Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Frostbite continues to impress. It's a shame it's so difficult to make good games with it. EA should take a lesson from Amazon and see if your product is good enough to compete on the market. Licence Frostbite out and see how the market responds. If no one wants to use it because there's no support or because it lacks features, then maybe those are reasons that your internal teams don't want to use it either. They can use that feedback to make the decision to make it competitive or not, but if you're pouring resources into something like this, they should justify that investment vs what's available. Quote
Brian Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 If anyone should be licensing out their engine, it is Sony with Decima. Quote

Unfortunately EA is that guy at the Burger King counter that's like "Hey! I have 99 cents!" What they don't show is the cashier being like "hey dumbshit, it's $1.07 after tax." Quote

Dre801 Posted May 22, 2019 Posted May 22, 2019 Just what all the devs forced to use this engine asked for, better hair. Quote
Spawn_of_Apathy Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 How much worse does this hair update make load times and menu/inventory UIs? Quote
Reputator Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 Looks great, regardless of the politics going on in the background. About 17 years ago it took cutting edge technology to do less realistic hair than this in Monsters Inc with offline rendering. It's cool to see strong indicators like this showing how far we've come. Spawn_of_Apathy Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 Why donI get the feeling they were going to fully render an actual human, but Frostbite is such shit they could only get a wooden doll in the 18 months they’d been working on this demo. Quote
Xbob42 Posted May 25, 2019 Posted May 25, 2019 Great, can't wait to see it look 50% as good in 7 years. Quote
