“Business” is what they call it now

Every time I did a booze run for her, I had her buy me a thirty rack of beer. They piled up in my dorm room faster than my friends and I could drink them. It was glorious. :daydream:

That only lasted a semester, after which she tried to get me to do it for free. I'm assuming she found some other guy thirsty enough to do it for her.

It's bizarre that the White house feels the need to contradict the owners. The Japanese aren't even saying Iran didn't do it, just contradicting the story of how it happened. It just makes it feel like you're making up who did it when you can't even agree on what happened in the first place.

What the fuck does that even mean.

I don't know all of it, but I think of the Littoral combat ship as being kinda like the boat version of an F-35. Maybe they're not quite as broken, but they're supposed to be a do it all kinda thing and haven't been able to do much of anything, at an enormous cost. The fact that they're not using them here emphasizes their uselessness.

The only thing you need to know about the LCS is that they're rearmoring them and reclassifying them because the idea of getting a ship close to shore so it can get blown to smitherines was a bad one, lol.

Good thing we have to rely on this nonrenewable resource sold on an international market in order for the global economy to function, and we're (we being the US government) going out of our way to make sure that status quo never changes with regard to that reliance. That means we have to have the most powerful Navy in the history of humanity escort cargo tankers because there's clearly no other option.

It's worse than F-35. the only reason they are still being built is to keep 2 of the 4 competing shipyards alive long enough for a winner in the Frigate competition to be selected next year. The new Frigate is the Navy's attempt to "move on" from LCS. It's been over a decade since the first hull was delivered and none of the "mission modules", which give the ships the ability to do anything, have been delivered. That and the ability to swap them out in 24 hours in any friendly port was also a compete lie, takes 30 days. So were going to end up with 32 LCS before the Frigates start getting delivered.

It means we don't need the biggest, baddest ships possible (our Destroyers) to do this job. But we don't have any ships in the area, or in the navy--aside from the Littoral Combat Ship--to perform the task.

On the bright side, at least the LCS will only cost $13B instead of the $400B we've spent on the 35, and they're already much closer to selecting a successor. Far as I can tell the sixth gen fighters are pretty far out.

The Mainstream Media's War Cheerleaders are getting themselves worked up into a frothy lather:

"and here is our story!!!

Three exclamation marks.  For a "story" spoon-fed to her by an unnamed US government official (coughJohn"Rage Walrus"Boltoncough) and she uncritically laps it up like a kitten with a fresh bowl of milk.  This isn't journalism - it's propaganda pure and simple.

If this is what a "free press" is all about, then give me an actual state-controlled one so we can all at least dispense with the illusions and I KNOW not to believe them.

I'm well aware of that, but it doesn't change the general notion that conflict with Iran is being pushed by the Saudis, the Israelis, and the neocons.

Let's not pretend Trump won't fold like one of his cheap suits. War is coming unfortunately.

One of the very, very few redeeming features of Trump is his general (and I'm being very liberal with the term here) anti-war stance for being a Republican. So I'm guessing at worst he will approve limited drone strikes, no matter what John Bolton wants.

Not a hill I'm going to die on though. Just a gut instinct

Limited drone strikes could result in retaliation by Iran - like they would no shit start sinking oil tankers in the gulf and blocking the straights to not allow passage through.
