@Jwheel86 - what is your status?

Made it safely to Raleigh, barely any traffic once we got by the Marine base (morons opened the schools then early dismissed the EXACT time my County started evacuating through that County, flooded the evacuation route with buses).

Staying with a friend tonight then going to a hotel tomorrow. Raleigh isn't the best option but better to have issues here than where the house is. We live in the middle of nowhere on a MAJOR body of water, house is solid concrete but if we have a breach we're screwed since it could be days before we're reached (one road in through a forest).

Ah, okay. There's a weak low close to Florida that's circulating a bit of southerly shear into the system. In addition to that, some dry air is getting caught in the circulation high in the atmosphere.

It's interesting because models were VERY good at showing the rapid intensification of Florence, whereas models usually do a very poor job catching rapid intensification. But this low has helped things a bit. With the low expected to move south and away, I'm not sure how it'll affect intensity. Florence is a BIG storm, and as we saw from Irma last year, they have a hard time rapidly intensifying as opposed to small hurricanes.

The biggest concern remains storm surge and flash flooding, and in addition to that, the length of time this will sit along the coast is long. Even if the coast is getting Cat 3 winds or Cat 2 winds further away, that's a whole day and change of sustained hurricane-force winds. I hope people have evacuated already on the coast; there's no point at all riding this out if you're in an evacuation zone.

The winds are weakening, but the storm is growing in size pushing its hurricane and tropical storm force winds further out, meaning larger storm surge and the flooding has always been the real danger which is now probably going to be even worse.  Harvey hit as a Cat 4 but did all of its damage as a Cat 1 or less.

Is that a World Cup trophy on his desk? What a socialist cuck.

I hate this man with a passion that burns with the fire of a thousand suns.

It is a World Cup trophy. I think FIFA president stopped by the White House last week or two weeks ago.

Good news its getting weaker.
