Finally offering more than the SEGA and Mega Drive classics on steam.

Though Earthworm Jim is BC on Xbone from the 360.

So long as they don’t screw this up like Sony did with theirs, this could be an amazing little system.

They’ve already announced that m2 is doing the emulation. So this won’t be a ps classic :) (m2 does all the sega ages releases and are the best when it comes to genesis emulation).

I'm not shocked.

Nor am I. That’s why all of these minis are so disappointing. They are missing so many of the games that made those consoles so iconic.

That's a pretty good list of games. Of course, there will always be people bitching because it doesn't include their favorite game, but you can't have them all.

I have most all the Genesis games I want, but I still look forward to giving them my money on this because it's actually gonna be a good product, unlike the shitty PS Classic.

There's some great games in there.  Landstalker is such an underappreciated great game.

Hopefully the include Shining Force II.  The original was good, but the sequel does everything better.

Fingers crossed for Herzog Zwei to make a showing.

Vectorman is Genesis as hell... as is Eternal Champions (regardless of the games actual quality)..

to me the genesis was the sports, disney, and Sonic console

Genesis was always THE place to play sports games - and other EA games.  It had the reputation as being the “cooler” console for older kids because it was “edgier” - it had blood in “MK”. It did what Nintendont

SEGA does what Sony don’t.

LOL! I didn’t even see this but I just referenced that same commercial right after you! Man that was a great ad. Memorable even 20+ years later.

Rofl.

That's why I see mounds of retro sports games in retro game shops sitting around not selling for $1.95. Meanwhile, good luck finding a copy of Earthbound or Final Fantasy for cheap.

Like I said, I LOVE the Genesis. It's probably my second favorite retro system after the SNES. Due in large part to the fact I love old school beat em ups. And Shining Force. And it's a fantastic console for arcade style games in general. But almost no one gives a shit about old sports games. I know Tecmo Bowl still has a little following, but the vast majority of retro sports games are sitting in boxes and bins and shelves in stores not selling, even at a buck or so because no one really cares about them anymore. Same goes for modern sports games that are more than a year or two old.

I'm sure Sonic 3 is forthcoming, but they also need:

Beyond Oasis

Phantasy Star (at least one)

Rocket Knight Adventures

Streets of Rage 1

Strider

Golden Axe (at least one)

And they definitely need more SHMUP love. The Genesis was THE best platform for those, and while Thunderforce 3 is a good start, I'd love to see MUSHA, Fire Shark, Truxton, Twin Cobra, Air Buster, and/or Lightening Force (they can use this as an excuse to fix the name :p). Maybe even Steel Empire since it was so unique for the time, aesthetically.

I agree on your list other than Streets of Rage 1.  Streets of Rage 2 trumps the original so hard as to render it irrelevant.  :p

Of the shooters you suggested, I would absolutely go Truxton.  I still play that one every so often because it was so good.

Steel Empire for sure! LOVE that game! My company (www.videogamesmonthly.com) gave that one out to a member of ours recently. CiB. He was very happy that day, lol.
