Zaku3 Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Guess I am downloading the Epic Store. I think I got Shadow Complex when they were offering it for free. Crazy that a crowdfunded game can be switched to an exclusive. Quote

They are giving the option of being refunded or getting an Epic key with 1 year of DLC support. Quote
Commissar SFLUFAN Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Time to exercise that refund option! Quote

Be a dick move to buy in the game in the face of them screwing over backers. Perhaps when it comes to Steam finally. I am probably still gonna be addicted to Hearts of Iron 4 by then anyway. Quote
Brian Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 As a Fig investor, you only profit off sales so you see none of the Fortnite money and all of the zero sales on EGS. Quote
Brian Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 Quote Where will I be able to play Phoenix Point on PC and Mac? Will the game ever be released on Steam, GOG.com or through other third-party outlets? Part of our arrangement with Epic is a one year-exclusivity period on PC and Mac through the Epic Games Store. One year after release, we’ll be able to distribute the game through other third-party stores, such as Steam and GOG.com. All backers up to this point will also STILL receive a Steam or GOG key after the 1 year exclusivity period. Updated FAQ. After the Metro fiasco, Epic wants zero Steam keys out there. Quote
Commissar SFLUFAN Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I mean, this surely violates the terms with FIG investors, right? Quote

Zaku3 Posted March 12, 2019 Author Posted March 12, 2019 They are back tracking a bit. You will get a GOG/Steam key in one year. Quote

finaljedi Posted March 12, 2019 Posted March 12, 2019 I was looking forward to this one, guess I’ll continue doing that... Then forget about it by next year. Quote
Keyser_Soze Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Epic sure knows how to please it's customers. Quote

Brian Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Epic needs to move the narrative away from “this is good for gamers” to “this is a storefront for devs and pubs”. Quote
Mr.Vic20 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Ouch. They aren't doing this right. I mean, I suppose only their internal numbers are going to dictate the truth of that, but bad PR on this level is not helping. Quote
Paperclyp Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Yeah this isn’t working out at least from what we can see. Maybe numbers-wise it’s fine and they’ll just banking on people getting over it if they can flesh the thing out good enough over time. Quote

Spork3245 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Epic can go fuck itself. The only reason I got Metro Exodus for the Epic Store is because I bought an nVidia RTX code off of eBay for $27; no additional money went to Epic. If it wasn’t for that, I would have waited until it was back on Steam. Quote
HalfJoey Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Seems like such a shitty thing to do to your backers who expected Steam and GOG keys after they helped fund your development cost. I wanted to like the Epic store for increased competition, and maybe all this will be forgotten in a couple years, but I'm going to hold out on using the Epic launcher for as long as I can. Quote
Mr.Vic20 Posted March 13, 2019 Posted March 13, 2019 Remember, Power corrupts, but a shit ton of money is pretty niffty! Quote

Keyser_Soze Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 I haven't even heard of this game till this thread, but looks like I don't need to buy it ever and they've done well for themselves. Quote
Xbob42 Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 Welcome to the competition you've been loudly clamoring for, folks! Weird, it's almost like despite the endless bitching about the service, Steam has been a relatively pro-consumer place for a long time and anyone who thought about it for half a second would've seen this as a critical step in "competition." Which, remember, is ALWAYS good. Now Sony's just gotta buy Take-Two, MS can buy From Software and no one will learn anything. Quote
