Jeff Goldblum comes out against recreating dinosaurs

Recommended Posts

Since cloning from preserved Dino flesh in amber (which does in fact exist!) is impossible, the only dinos we'll get are probably gonna look like these:

aHR0cDovL3d3dy5saXZlc2NpZW5jZS5jb20vaW1h

Which are pretty harmless, and will probably make dope pets.

The most dangerous prehistoric animals that can be brought back are probably Smilodons or something.

EDIT: Actually since DNA takes like 6 million years to degrade and Megalodons went extinct about 2 million years ago, Megalodons.  But the likelihood of finding any cloneable genetic material from them is extremely low considering how fish tend to fossilize and how ocean ecosystems function.

Large terror birds are arguably more dangerous than the raptors in Jurassic Park, so hopefully not lol.  But the dinosaurs Horner wants to bring back could probably be easily taken out by domestic cats, foxes, birds of prey etc.  They probably shouldn't be released into the wild, but worse case scenario they'd serve a similar ecological niche as chickens or kakapos or something. Seems harmless and adorable enough and unlikely that much bad can happen.  Sorry, but in this specific case, yes, dinosaurs should be brought back! :p As long as nobody gets crazy and tries reverse engineering Cassowaries or bringing back several dangerous and ecosystem-disrupting prehistoric superpredators like Sabretooths, Terror birds, and the pandoras box that would be Megalodons there's probably very little to worry about. :sun:

According to pirate journals they actually tasted horrible :sadsun:

Boooo... What can we a a people do to get a hold of some new meat that's easy domesticate? This is the real question people should be asking when they think about bringing some animals back from extinction.

Mammoths were apparently tasty
:pratt:

Seriously, though, the only reason I knew about the Dodo tasting bad was because it was on several of those "common myths" articles and videos that constantly pop up, in regards to the Dodo being hunted to extinction for it's meat. Journals from the time seem to claim the meat being super tough and was greasy to the point it would almost make you gag. :p What killed it was dogs/pigs/rats developing a taste for dodo eggs or something iirc.

This is the correct answer, honestly.  While the science industry might say "the development of tasty and sustainable lab-grown meat should be prioritized over resurrecting animals that died off naturally for the purpose of butchering them ourselves into fast food nuggets", scientists and their followers can be so preoccupied with physical health, animal welfare and the protection of the planet that they refuse to acknowledge their issues of being closeminded to eating the most amazing fast food possible.
