For some inexplciable reason, Netflix made a Mötley Crüe biopic (The Dirt)

The 80s were garbage

I would take the 80's content over what is being produced today in almost every category.

Music, Movies, Art, Literature...

I think if you count streaming as TV then the TV of today is better than in the 80's.  But that is about it.

Everyone thinks their shit is better than the next generation’s shit. :p

I grew up with the Crue, so this very welcomed! And I can only imagine what psycho #metoo member would have done to a theater if this were to have gone mainstream with the stories of what they all did with women, lol

If that statue of the sailor kissing the nurse during WW2 got off with that simple graffiti offense, I imagine theater patrons might have gotten a print out flier with the hashtag stapled to their heads haha

I’m at least hopeful because it’s being done outside of the studio system. I can’t believe that out of all of the rock music biopic we still don’t have one that’s an hard R.

You looking for some kind of weird blend of Requim for a Dream and a porno?

Also Straight Out of Compton was a pretty hard R

You'll have to wait for the Mayhem biopic for that.

A friend of mine subjected himself to that Lords Of Chaos flick, a guy who was also involved in that scene at one point, and he said it was offensively bad and off. This guy worked for Misanthropy Records back in the day, so he knows what he's talking about.

If you want to watch Black Metal: The Lifetime Event, it's probably great. I can't get myself to do it.

As opposed to the 90's? The era of the participation trophy, helicopter parents, and the formative years of the most entitled generation in history?

Besides that, the 90's were great in terms of movies (arguably one of the best decades for cinema) but in terms of other pop culture,  the decade is a distant second to the 80's buddy. Ok video games were better in the 90's too, I'll give you that :p

Until the Light Takes Us was good.

The additional footage was actually more interesting than the actual documentary I thought. Lords Of Chaos unfortunately is the Hollywood film version based on a book that was 90% nonsense, fabrications and errors, so there's that.

That was and will be every decade ever. I actually think that's a pretty lovely thing. Leave the garbage in the past.

It's fine until you start trying to use it as evidence that "[past decade] >>> current decade".

I don't mind, everyone has their decade and preference. Does it really matter if I think the 80's were the shit and my evidence is that Motley Crue is the best band evaaa?

Well there's no question that you or I or anyone would rather live now. But I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that the 80s were a better decade in the sense that I'd rather listen to Duran Duran than Miley Cyrus or watch Aliens instead of Atila's Battle Bitch or that Reagan was a tad less bad than Trump. I think that's all anybody means by it.
