Deadline notes that Alita is pacing 3% over Ready Player One, which ended its run with $445M overseas. If Alita can gross something similar, with a roughly $100M US take, it won't have been a complete disaster, but it's far from a guarantee of a sequel. I have seen it and it's not great because they basically have to make up a story and have to strip out the sexual abuse angle (which you figure would happen) so it completely changes the character and what they made up wasn't great either. Though they do pay homage to the bathroom shootout scene.
