They say it is a victim of online shopping, but it's probably because it took on huge amounts of debt to expand its retail footprint and the bet didn't pay off. Still, sad for the tens of thousands of employees.

My friend got some hiking boots from there and then twisted both his ankles coming down a mountain on a hike.

This sucks for kids shoes. They're the only retail store that carries toddler shoes in wide and half sizes that isn't unreasonably expensive for a shoe that's only going to fit for like three weeks.

 

That said, they have WAY too many stores. I can think of three or four stores a short drive away.
