elbobo
This thing was a miracle of engineering, the planned mission length was 90 days, it worked for almost 15 years https://www.latimes.com/science/sciencenow/la-sci-sn-mars-opportunity-rover-20190212-story.html
Commissar SFLUFAN
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. The massive volcanoes in the northern Tharsis region that deform the curvature of the planet. I watched Phobos and Deimos glitter in the pre-dawn hours before the rising of Sol. All those moments will be lost in time, like the dust of Cydonia in the wind. Time to die. 1

legend
If I was a engineer on Opportunity, I would consider my life a success. Such an amazing achievement. I've said it before, but NASA is the best of us. Goodbye, Opportunity. If we ever make it to Mars, you will be memorialized.

CitizenVectron
Didn't it lasting so long cause some budget issues for NASA, as they had planned to re-allocate personnel after it died? I mean, that's a great problem to have!

brucoe
I still love the comic that was done of the rover, trying to prove himself useful so NASA would come back and get him. First time ever a comic brought tears to my eyes.
