SaysWho?
https://deadline.com/2019/02/super-bowl-ratings-patriots-rams-marron-5-worlds-best-cbs-1202548893/ Quote Shown on CBS for the first time since 2016 and with ad spots going for around $5 million each, the Rams’ loss scored a 44.9/68 in metered market results. To put that in the starkest light of day, that’s a dip of just over 5.2% from the big NFL battle of February 4, 2018 on NBC in the first round of ratings. On a larger playing field and amidst a call for a boycott of the game due to the league’s “racist” treatment of Colin Kaepernick, that metered market result for yesterday’s game is the worst the Super Bowl has done in the early numbers since the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Arizona Cardinals on February 1, 2009. A very tight and seamlessly flowing offering from the network, yesterday’s Super Bowl is also down a bit over 8% from the metered markets of the last time CBS had the game three years ago. Commissar SFLUFAN
Anecdotally, not one single person I knew had any interest in watching the game.
Captain Pickle
huh? It's the only football game I watch every year so I watched it. I knew it was a boring game but at least it was close all game. Nothing worse than a blow out determined in the first half. Would have been better if there were some close calls though. TwinIon
I think this comic and rant sum explain some of the drop. It's just not fun to watch the Pats win again, especially against a team that no one is really excited to root for. Maybe they'd have worked as suitable foils if you had a Drew Brees type with a great story to root for. McVay and Goff just aren't the feel good underdogs you'd want. Ghost_MH
I don't know if it was mentioned in the article, but it also looks like less than half of bitter Saints country tuned into the game than had in previous years. No doubt they certainly decided not to change their minds after hearing of the score or how dreadfully awful Maroon 5 was.
Brian
Mahomes would have shattered viewing records.
