Commissar SFLUFAN Posted January 24, 2019 Share Posted January 24, 2019 I was feeling in the mood for some ethnic food tonight so I decided to patronize an Irish restaurant near my building. In perusing the menu, I saw the usual Irish fare: fish n' chips, bangers n' mash, corned beef n' cabbage, etc. when I chanced upon something called "Donegal chicken". Since I had never heard of this particular dish before, i decided to order it. When it arrived accompanied by a serving of mashed potatoes and root vegetables, I noticed that it appeared vaguely familiar, like a memory from my distant past. When I finally tasted the chicken, it suddenly hit me what I was eating: bloody Shake N' Bake chicken! I am not kidding. This goddamned $18 meal that I had ordered tasted IDENTICAL to something I can pick up in the supermarket for a couple of bucks. As a child growing up in Trinidad, I enjoyed Shake N' Bake chicken as a special treat because it was an imported product and was pretty expensive, but that was a looooooooong time ago. Needless to say that I'm rather peeved at spending $18 on that meal which further reinforces what I've always said and believed: never, ever trust the bloody fucking Irish!
