Just curious though - why are you worried about XP gains after the main story? You should be at level cap or will be right after the last mission. After that, isnt it just strongholds and bumping difficulty on  story mission to challenge?

Had read tips that said to hold side quest for after story missions. Story missions give a predetermined amount of XP, while side missions are always a third of your XP bar. So side missions are better for leveling up at the higher levels that require more XP.

If it’s not t hit 30 then the tips must be fore just getting caches for filling an XP bar for more lot.

There seems to be a decent amount of side missions that unlock after completing certain objectives. Also there are hidden side missions too. I don't think you'll ever run short of ways to get XP.

I’m just doing whatever whenever. I’ll get to 30 and I’m in no hurry. I’m only level 13.

Hit level 22 last night. my format is working well for leveling. 3 control points, complete 1 or 2 projects or random events and that gains me a full level. do a main mission being underleveled by 1 and upon completion gains me another level. Basically takes about 1hr to gain one level. So hopefully by Friday/Saturday I will hit 30. Ive had 2 yellow drops so far since hitting 20, which feels nice..but one was an LMG and I am not feeling them in this game. Terrible recoil, small mag size and low DPS compared to ARs and Rifles. LMGs need a buff.  There definitely  is no shortage of loot in this game...and the fact that they made armor sets a thing from basically level 1 is awesome. that is usually something reserved for end game.

Im enjoying trying to run 2 armor sets, but its tough to do that while keeping all my perks active on my guns. Ive been running a rifle and assault rifle combo. I put a 4x scope on my rifle to take out ranged enemies and I use an extended mag on my AR for mid to CQ. seems to work well. Also - ive been trying to stack a bunch of skill power perks and mods bc the turret is an absolute fucking beast in D2 (compared to D1). i can basically sit back and watch it melt an entire room of mobs. it even does massive damage to yellow bars enough that i just need to hit a few shots to clean up.

LMGs definitely don't need a buff. There are two skills you can get, one that increases the fire rate by 35% when reloading from empty and another that refills 20% of your ammo every time you break a piece of armor. Literally melts heavies and elites and you have damn near infinite ammo in the mean time.

Edit: one piece of armor + the maxed out lmg skill in the demolished tree boosts damage by 25% as well. You can also get frag grenades that cause a bleed effect, so pair that lmg with the skills I mentioned, throw a frag into a group and give your lmg the sadist talent... everyone just melts like butter. It's insanity.

ahh sounds like they shine at endgame. for now, they seem really underwhelming during the campaign.

I ran an LMG for a big chunk of the run up to Lvl 30, and I felt it was pretty damn powerful.  It does extra damage to enemies out of cover, so I'd focus on those.  Pretty much every gun has felt fine to me thus far.  I've currently started running a Shotgun/Rifle Combo and have been enjoying it.

Since hitting 30 though and playing the "End Game" a bit, my interest has kind of dropped bit.  Do we have a date of when the Raid is supposed to hit?

I've been running AR/RIFLE or AR/Marksman RIFLE.  I use the ACR with the extended clip and it gives me 60 rounds and that melts pretty much everything that gets too close. I haven't really started playing with other weapon combos yet... maybe close quarters build with a submachine gun and a shot gun. That might be a build I run in squads.

I got an high-level AR yesterday that had a talent that gave it 50% increase weapon damage if hitting a target within 7m. Its fucking awesome...any time those rusher come I just let them know. They instantly melt.

I'm really enjoying LMG with the demolitionist specialization. Love the big guns with the 100 round clips/belts. Plus it gets more accurate (to a point) the longer you're holding down the trigger. Combine that with the fact that it quickly puts a suppression effect on mobs and it adds decent crowd control.

Wanted to hit WT4 last night but somehow managed to fall asleep while playing. Ended up getting more Hunter masks though. :p

what does it take to get from WT1 to WT2 etc ?

Is it just farming to get a higher gear/skill rating? Then that automatically places you in a new world tier?

Or do you have to complete specific objectives/missions?

Beat the Strongholds again.  You need to redo the Story Missions with Black Tusks to unlock a Stronghold, then beat the Stronghold and it'll move you up to the next Tier.  Rinse and repeat for the different strongholds to keep moving up.  I'm not sure if there is a specific order to do them in.  I've still be solo playing the entire game, beat the first Stronghold in the Sports Arena on World Tier 1 solo, still pretty easy.

World Tier 2 is challenging thus far, but moreso because it just seems you have so many enemies all over the place, that if you start attacking a Control Point theres a good chance another group might come in from nearby.  I also haven't been trying to build any specific build, just putting on whatever is highest Gear Score, so my build is a mess.  Will prob push to Tier 3 today though

so once i complete the story (level 24 right now), are the strongholds unlocked?

how many missions need to be redone to unlock the stronghold?

when u hit Lvl 30 and beat all the 3 Strongholds then you get to Tier 1 and the map resets basically.  Then you restart the game from scratch essentially.  I think each Stronghold shows which missions need to be beat to unlock it, the 1st one only required one I think.  The others might be 2.

I mean its cool cause you always have something to do still, something to chase.  But its not "End Game" in my opinion, because until you're Tier 4 or 5 or whatever it is, you can't solidify a build or anything and all the loot you find will be discarded.  End Game to me is once you're finding max level items and are working towards perfecting builds, and I am definitely not at that point at all.

Will items continue to drop at higher level Gear Score even if the higher gear score items are in your inventory and not equipped.

so are you just running only missions or are you doing other world events to gear up to try the strongholds?

it seems like its a bit of grind to jump up to a higher tier. also - it sounds like exotics only drop in WT4?

I was capturing Control Points, but it becomes a lot of micro managing cause they continuously get taken back over.  I think you need to Clear the Missions and Strongholds to weaken the grasp of the enemies factions in the areas so your control points are taken less.  You have to have minimum gear score to attempt missions I think.

I just reached World tier 2 last night too. Gonna push to World Tier 3 today too.

I am never going to complete one of these bounties. Every time I try the game just pops a bunch of gold health enemies out of the ground that just rush me. In addition to like 3-4 other shootouts happening around the area. There are more enemies in the area unrelated to the bounty then in an entire control point.

This game has many issue. The cover system is actually worse in this game. If an enemy is behind me or lateral you actually get out of cover to shoot them. Out of cover the enemies bullets are fucking magic and can go through or around objects. I’ve watched bullet spray hit me when an enemy was aiming 90 degrees away from me.

I keep finding stairs that my character can’t climb like there is an invisible wall blocking me. The guiding line thinks I can go up them, but nope.

Skill mods are absolutely worthless because the require far more skill power than I could possibly have. Even for a lvl 13 mod.

I HATE that when I deployed something the enemy doesn’t notice until it is right at their feet they all have pregocnition powers and know exactly where I am hidden behind cover. They didn’t see me throw it. They didn’t see it land. They just saw the seeker orbs as they got in close. There is absolutely zero information they have on my location. Yet they know. Bullshit.

This game is stingy a hell with the clothing you find. You’re probably getting 90% less than you did in Division 1. But then Division 1 was not made with loot boxes to sell you in mind. Something Destiny 2 got slammed for, Anthem got slammed for, but Div2 gets a pass apparently.

I enjoy joy coming across echos, like it did in Div 1, but it also feels like there are far less of them in Div2 than in Div1.

The missions themselves are far too easy, fighting in the open world is harder though cause I feel like more often random groups of enemies will run in behind and surprise you.  Its not a draw distance thing for me, just simply being overrun by a lot of enemies from all angles.

Just got to World Tier 3, did the Captial Building Stronghold solo, felt rather easy.   Ive been running Drone and the little heal packs.  I like that I can send the drone out to distract enemies or force them out of cover, and it allows me to run around more freely to flank.

Weapons I just kind use whatever I pick up that is best.  Lately been LMG/AR combo.  Running the Crossbow specialist.

No clue what the masks are you speak of, but I guess I'll start plugging away at Tier 4.

I hit lvl 28 last night. I ran the lvl 26 stronghold at 25 and the 28 stronghold at 27. It was two completely different experiences (even though every missions is basically the same).

On the 26 stronghold, everyone was 25...and we got absolutely destroyed over and over again. The multiple rushing yellowbars in the tight corridors with no place to retreat really sucked. Then at one point we cleared an area and the 2nd we killed the last dude, the door behind us opened and 2 yellowbars and 4 purples wiped us instantly. that was total bullshit. no warning, no nothing. i noticed them on my radar and rolled away at least once taking out a purple but i was overun. overall i really didnt enjoy this stronghold... OHK melee yellowbars and really no way to spreadout so I didnt see half the map until we cleared it.

Then I ran the 28 stronghold and it was awesome. A lot more room to move around and the team being able to spreadout made a huge difference. I was 27 and there was a 30 and two 29s. The difficulty scaled up to 29 for me and i shit you not, i carried the team. by the time i ran this stronghold, i stacked 40% damage to elites on my gear. it helped tremendously. I only died once and the rest of the team died multiple times and i had to run around and revive them. the last area where you are by the marina, we wiped the first time. then the 2nd time, everyone wiped and i cleaned house.. managed to get two of the other guys revived and then we killed the final wave that had 3 yellowbars and a few purples. felt good.

Also - I gave LMGs another shot. I stacked 14% LMG damage, plus i had 3% weapon damage from a mod i think. the LMG i was using had a talent that increased weapon damage by 2% for every 5m you were from an enemy. so i put the 4x scope on and it was pretty beastly. esp bc this LMG had a 100 round mag. i did wind up using a mod that gave me 25% faster reload and sacrificed 15 rounds. i think it was a worthwhile tradeoff.

Tonight I  want to try and get to 30. I want to run the final mission at level cap so all my drops are endgame stuff. I got about 6-7 control points and 2 projects left i can complete. that should do it i think, or get me damn close.

Lemme know when you’re ready to roll. Did you go up a few levels?

You’re far off from getting end game stuff. Lvl 30 drops 250 gear score items, you’ll be going for 400+ Gear Score stuff I’m assuming in the different world tiers.

gotcha. so maybe i wont wait till 30.

question - Lets say you and I wanted to play together. Youre on WT3 and Im just getting to WT1. is that even possible? D1 i was really easy to play with people who were different levels than you but I feel like D2 may have made it harder to let friends play together who arent close in level.
