I'll give him this, he's done an effective job of shifting the Congressional blame from Republicans to Democrats.

Democrats have passed multiple appropriations bills, with Republican support in the House. The Senate is just acting as if they don't exist, even though they passed it in early December.

I haven't seen any movement toward blaming Dems. It's just that people would most rather blame Trump than Congressional Republicans.

McConnell: Senate won't override Trump veto on shutdown fight

Considering the public seems to be blaming this on Trump way more than the Congressional GOP, does anyone else think that this is maybe the GOP's way trying to make Trump unpopular enough for them to finally bail on him without losing face with the base for doing so?

McConnell won't even allow the Senate to vote, and he's already made it clear he won't call a vote on anything the president won't sign.

It sounds like the columnist just wanted something to write.
