Is this some type of special re-release of all three films, different cuts, anything like that?

I wish,  it’s referred to by fans as the Apocalypse Trilogy because each deals with a world ending horror but leave the viewer with an open ending.

Mayhem - 7/10

I had no idea that a not shitty version of the Belko Experiment existed!!  Found this one lookong through the Joe Briggs movies on Shudder. It’s a fun, decent, not shitty horror movie that’s elevated by Samara Weaving. Is there such thing as an Anti-Scream Queen? Even when she occasionally plays the victim she’s still a badass who ends up with half the kills in the movie haha. I feel like it’s been awhile since Horror had a true genre star but she’s def it.

30 Days of Night - 5/10

The opening and premise in general had so much potential but I felt like most of it was squandered, the ending sucked and the vampires mostly looked really funny.

I saw this a number of years ago but you're pretty much right on the money.

I feel kinda bad because I keep posting negative reviews of movies/shows lately but seriously, it's been a slew of pretty lame shit I've been watching lately for some weird reason.

I just started watching Nurse Jackie with my new girlfriend though (she's a med student and loves the show) and it's really good, Edie Falco is such a great actress.

I don't know if you saw my review of Cemetery Man or have seen it (I feel like you're the kind of guy who has seen it) I was actually pleasantly surprised. In fact after seeing it I immediately went to check if a blu-ray version exists (I rented it from Netflix and they only had a DVD version) and one does exist, and I bought it. I don't do that often but check it out if you can.

Before that I was giving somewhat lukewarm reviews to poor movies, like you. :p

Do you remember when Bravo, the cable channel, was still about indie films and so on? Sometime in the very early 2000's, they actually showed Dellamorte Dellamore/Cemetery Man regularly for some bizarre reason. I taped it on VHS back then and I absolutely loved its weird tone and surreal ending. Funny thing is, I saw it years and years later on DVD and like many old Horror flicks, I could've done without the visual upgrade exposing every single terrible effects flaw. But anyway, yeah, I really like that movie's strange atmosphere and nihilistic outlook. The ending is lovely.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) - ???/10

It's over the top and campy, and full of bad accents (HOW DOES CARY ELWES, WHO IS ENGLISH, HAVE A BAD ENGLISH ACCENT?!), but weirdly is probably the most faithful adaptation of the novel I've seen. That's not necessarily good or bad, the novel is kind of weird.

At any rate, I really don't know how to feel about it. It... exists. Gary Oldman makes a good villain, who also isn't really a villain?'

I don't know. Your life won't be better or worse for watching it. 2 hours of bad accents and Francis Ford Coppola trying to be like "aVaNt GaRdE hAvE YoU SeeN KubRiCk?" but it's not horrible. And, again, honestly the most faithful Dracula adaptation I've seen.

I Spit on Your Grave: 7/10 - Hard to rate, hard to watch. I haven't seen the original but it would be hard to believe that the original is more extreme than this one. Hard to say. In any case I felt the revenge part of the movie was fine and justified. One of the dudes looks a tad too much like Henry Cavill.

Sleepy Hollow(1999) - 7.5/10

Somehow I never saw this one. Dunno how I missed it. But I thought it was solid. A good Halloween movie.

I really like Sleepy Hollow - campy but creepy. Also I remember watching it a year after release at 10 and it being pretty awesome even then.

Falling for Innocence: 7/10 - If someone was to look at the poster for this they might assume this show is just good clean fun. However, it's a hardcore business drama that happens have a love story as part of it. Sometimes I felt like I needed @Greatoneshere for some clarity because the show is so full of legalese. All this stuff manipulating bonds, interrupting supply chain, etc in order to bankrupt a company. Yeah not happy stuff. On top of that is murder and a power cover up. Overall though I thought it was enjoyable despite the subject matter.

Also as an aside this seems to be another Korean show I've seen that seems to revolve around the redemption of a wealthy guy who was a dick. It must be a culture thing, maybe @thewhyteboar knows. It's just a strange thing to see since here in the United States it's kind of like fuck wealthy people. But this is like he's wealthy but he's nice nice, he's learned his lesson (after getting as second chance at life and is ill)

The Fog

It's hard for me to rate this one. I re-watched it for the millionth time yesterday during a beautifully autumnal Northeastern day to show to my new girlfriend. She isn't a movie nerd like myself but does like 'spooky things' to quote her so I've taken it upon myself to use Halloween as an excuse to introduce her to the world of old school Horror flicks. This is one of my all-time favorites and she was surprisingly impressed by it and even called it a 'really great movie, whatever genre'.

For my money, this is one of the most beautifully atmospheric Horror films ever made and every time I watch it, it just gets better. Carpenter's score on this alone is fucking incredible and I've been listening to it on headphones at work all day because I can never let the atmosphere go after watching it. It's a masterpiece in my book and I'm shopping for the 4K remaster right now actually.

(And lastly, lastly, I saw there are 2 more seasons of this (which aren't on Netflix) but I don't know how I feel about watching this show if Jang Hyuk isn't on board )

@thewhyteboar & @Greatoneshere As you recall I was pimping this show several months ago and as I noted here there were 2 more season not on Netflix. Well that is not the case any longer. They actually added season two a couple days ago

So now you have no excuse to continue to ignore me and not watch this show. I've only seen the first episode (which I watched just right now) but the show is 100% more metal now :rocking:

Thanks man. Would this work on a Region 1 PS4? Sorry, I'm a bit of a dummy in terms of Blu Rays etc., I still have a shitton of DVDs.

It's a 4K blu-ray so it won't play on a PS4. Looking at the page for the regular blu-ray it says region B which also won't play on a PS4 unless you change the region (which supposedly you can do 4 times)

Although SimpleG is free to correct me!

Well...good thing I didn't buy it. I'll get the regular Blu Ray!

although if you have a 4k player, all UHD 4K discs are region free. Paddington 2 UK disc is, I swear to god, a demo disc worth importing. Plus the movies are just charming as fuck, and can’t wait for the third one.

The Boys season 2

I liked season 1 more. The Deep's plot was a giant pile of nothing, Homelander is less scary this season even though he seems to be less stable. Stormfront was a solid addition and just like every change from the comic she was improvement vs her print counterpart.

7.5/10

I've always wondered what the deal is with streaming shows. It seems like the first season is always the best and then it just goes downhill. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, The Boys, Altered Carbon, The Man in the High Castle... pretty much everything I can think of.

Maybe it's a case that they're filmed like movies. The whole first season is filmed at once, and it might be a year before it airs. The network doesn't know whether there will be a second season until the first one comes out, so perhaps a lot of the people who worked on the show have moved on. I don't know.
