Pikachu
https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/spongebob-squarepants-creator-dead-dies-stephen-hillenburg-1203037362/ Quote The cause of death was ALS, which Hillenburg revealed he had been diagnosed with in March of last year. “We are incredibly saddened by the news that Steve Hillenburg has passed away following a battle with ALS,” Nickelodeon said in a statement. “He was a beloved friend and long-time creative partner to everyone at Nickelodeon, and our hearts go out to his entire family. Steve imbued ‘SpongeBob SquarePants’ with a unique sense of humor and innocence that has brought joy to generations of kids and families everywhere. His utterly original characters and the world of Bikini Bottom will long stand as a reminder of the value of optimism, friendship and the limitless power of imagination.”

sblfilms
ALS is a terrible way to go. So sad.
SaysWho?
The first three seasons of that show are terrific. Thanks for the memories.
Keyser_Soze
I've never watched an episode but was a big fan of Rocko's Modern Life. In any case not a great way to go out.

An integral writer on the team for sure, but just wanted to be clear. Either way, this news sucks. The first few seasons of SpongeBob SquarePants are genuinely excellent. Show went downhill after that though.

Hurdyb1
Damn. He sure made my son happy with Spongebob. I also had no idea about his contribution to Rocco's Modern Life which made my childhood happy.

The way your post was worded and structured gave off the vibe that you were crediting him with the show in my mind was all.

Here's a timely interview with Joe Murray https://www.polygon.com/interviews/2018/11/21/18104961/rockos-modern-life-creator-joe-murray-interview Nothing about Hillenburg in here but it is about RML and how they could pretty much get away with murder making a kid's show.
