The unwritten rules of baseball are written by crusty, old, white men who think a bat flip is a crime against man and god but a pitcher hurling an object at a batter at speeds approaching 100mph because of a perceived slight that happened months or a season ago are simply the table stakes.

Dunno I see lots of races get butthurt over simple celebrations like a bat flip or simply waiting to long to admire the home run before running the bases. Dominicans, Cubans, African Americans, Hispanics, Latinos, etc.

Lies, there's like one black pitcher (David Price). The vast majority that fall into this category are a'holes like Madison Bumgarner and Hunter Strickland, you know, the all-American white guy.

Jose Urena. Pedro Martinez. Ubaldo Jimenez. Bob Gibson. All American white guys.

There are old crusty curmudgeons in every demo, but the white variety is generally the most vocal about tradition, decorum, and unwritten rules.

It’s this. It was perfectly acceptable to absolutely truck a generally defenseless catcher at home plate, but again, “show up” a pitcher and you’ll get drilled. Any unwritten rule that allows for punitive measures with a non-trivial chance of injury in response to wounded pride should be officially and unofficially legislated out of pro sports.

If you don’t want somebody to pimp their homer, don’t throw them a pitch they can crush. Same thing with running up the score in football and the acknowledgement of retribution with the “that’s how players get hurt”. Nah fam, you don’t want the score getting run up…stop the other team from scoring!
