I can possibly see the As falling back and the Blue Jays surging in the AL, and maybe the Phillies catching the Mets…but that’s about it. Damn right my Jays are gonna surge, especially with Vladdy Jr heading back to the actual Rogers Centre as of July 30th (still the SkyDome to me damnit) Fuck is just fun to watch bat every time. I mean, in the US there are 330 million people and most likely only around 20% of the population caught Covid before the vaccines became available, so it's not particularly shocking. The Yankees players also were all vaccinated with the J&J single dose vaccine which looks to be significantly less effective at preventing infection than the mRNA vaccines are with the more transmissible variants like Delta which is now the dominant strain going around in the US. But the key info coming out of the Yankees outbreak is the majority of infected players had no symptoms at all and the others very mild. That is vaccines at work, even less robust ones like the J&J.
