It’s hard to find a more evergreen tweet than this:

If there's one longterm lesson it would behoove us as a country to learn from this disaster of a president it's that the only time a president can truly be called to account for his actions is during the midterms, and during his re-election. Other than that, it is nearly impossible to remove them from office.

People who say Trump has wriggled out of this or that gaff or pays no political price aren't looking at the situation pragmatically enough.

In the scenario of your Tweet, what exactly does not being able to "wriggle out" of a predicament mean? Trump falls to his knees, rips open his shirt, and declares to the heavens, "I am guilty. Oh woe is me I am not worthy of holding the high office of the presidency and thereby resign effective immediately".

The other lesson is to never count on a Republican to do the right thing.

Can anyone explain the South African land thing to me? I've seen Richard Spencer retweet and other white nationalists, but haven't really dug in to the substance.

In an effort to redistribute land, the South African government has proposed an amendment to the constitution that sets out the conditions where land can be expropriated without compensation.

So, in short, this is a quintessential example of that article that claimed the White Nationalists are winning despite the fact that only a few dozen of them show up at rallies.

WaPo throwing out the L word, Trump didn't give a misleading, or false statement about payments to these women, he LIED.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2018/08/23/not-just-misleading-not-merely-false-lie/?utm_term=.78fd1d2d8611

The first denial that Donald Trump knew about hush-money payments to silence women came four days before he was elected president, when his spokeswoman Hope Hicks said, without hedging, “We have no knowledge of any of this.”

The second came in January of this year, when his attorney Michael Cohen said the allegations were “outlandish.” By March, two of the president’s spokesmen — Raj Shah and Sarah Huckabee Sanders — said publicly that Trump denied all the allegations and any payments. Even Cohen’s attorney, David Schwartz, got in on the action, saying the president “was not aware of any of it.”

In April, Trump finally weighed in, answering a question about whether he knew about a payment to porn star Stephanie Clifford, who uses the stage name Stormy Daniels, with a flat “no.”

It’s now clear that the president’s statement was a lie — and that the people speaking for him repeated it.
