It's nice you think spiderman will win anything when God of war and rdr is there.  I think spiderman should win awards though

Oh, I don't think Spider-Man will win, I was posting what I would pick for those categories. I'm sure that RDR2 and GoW will dominate awards across the web.

Feels like it has been a year of competent but mostly forgettable games.

Xenoblade 2 definitely got shafted for the music and RPG categories.  Already was last year because of their release date cut off.

The choral tracks in that game deserve major props in particular.

I am not one to complain a whole lot about awards nominations, but god damn are a lot of those games some shit nominations.

Detroit being nominated for anything, let alone plot awards, should immediately disqualify the legitimacy of awards show.

And like, octopath is an OK game, but iirc there’s not really a whole lot of music to that game. And it certainly didn’t wow me.

I habe other opinions but those ones immediately popped out at me.

I haven't played Detroit, but just look at the competition. Any game with a story at all seems to have been nominated.

That’s certainly a list of big budget popular games from this year.

Lol was Detroit that bad? I always thought David Gage sucked as a storyteller but most gamers loved him.

The game is literally David Cage thinking it’s profound to ask, “what if robots were oppressed?”

"What if we used the story as a metaphor for the social inequities in society"

I want a game where the twist is that the robots aren't really sentient.

Was Detroit bad or just obvious?

I haven't played the game. But based on what I've heard, I really don't want to unless I want to yell at the TV a lot. And I don't mean because it presents an emotionally compelling story.

What the fuck ever.  I see a lot of David Cage hate and not much more.

Detroit was very good, as was Beyond: Two Souls.

I'm sorry, but the robot metaphor cannot and should not be used as an allegory for race, or any other marginalized group.

"Are robots people" is an actual discussion that will eventually need to happen as tech advances and AI becomes more powerful.  At what point have we stopped emulating a thinking being, and at what point have we created one is actually a debate.  "Are these people actually people" is not a debate.  At all.  To even begin to conflate the two is both stupid and profoundly misguided.

Obra Dinn only nominated for art direction and "best indie game"?

Man, the story in that game has hooked me more than any of the top-tier schlock we've had this year.

Fucking Detroit?

It's okay that you like shitty garbage, but don't try to convince us it's chocolate.

I'm pretty sure you totally missed the irony/sarcasm in @skillzdadirecta's statement :p

If RDR wins anything other than technical awards. That game came across like the game version of Oscar Bait.

Definitely the best looking game I've played this year.

I haven't beaten the game yet so the jury is still out... Peter Parker/Spiderman and Kratos and BOY edge him out so far :p
