Rudolph W. Giuliani, a lawyer for the president, sought to play down the significance of the investigation. “The fact that it goes back a year and a half and nothing came of it that showed a breach of national security means they found nothing,” Mr. Giuliani said on Friday, though he acknowledged that he had no insight into the inquiry.

Or, ya know, accusing the president of being a Kremlin operative is the kind of thing Mueller might want to wait to reveal until the end of his investigation, Rudolph.

You'd think former US Attorney Bat Boy would know something like that.

This administration’s fetish for Obama is clinical.

Not to mention comey needing to be fired and Trump being the most useful of idiots are not mutually exclusive

Even after the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, wrote a more restrained draft of the letter and told Mr. Trump that he did not have to mention the Russia investigation — Mr. Comey’s poor handling of the Clinton email investigation would suffice as a fireable offense, he explained — Mr. Trump directed Mr. Rosenstein to mention the Russia investigation anyway.
He disregarded the president’s order, irritating Mr. Trump. The president ultimately added a reference to the Russia investigation to the note he had delivered, thanking Mr. Comey for telling him three times that he was not under investigation.

Good lord, such idiocy.

He totally didn't write that.

It’s funny when they try to write it in his style on top of it.

The Myth of the Mueller Report (Mother Jones)

Here’s the problem with all this speculation and anticipation: Mueller is under no obligation to produce a final report that shares with the public the full breadth of what he has uncovered.

The Justice Department guidelines governing the work of a special counsel do not compel Mueller to compile such a report. They only include one sentence about a report: “At the conclusion of the Special Counsel’s work, he or she shall provide the Attorney General with a confidential report explaining the prosecution or declination decisions reached by the Special Counsel.”

While true, that argument has always struck me as a bit of meaningless semantics.

Mueller may not release an overarching report if he has nothing to add to his mound of indictments. If he found damning evidence of wrong doing by Trump which warrants indictment or impeachment but doesn't "fit" into other indictments he isn't going to sit on that info just because technically he doesn't  have to release a report.

It's a bit like saying, if Mueller didn't find anything that needs to be revealed, he won't release a report to reveal it. Great insight.

Call me crazy but I'm gonna listen to the guy who wrote the special counsel regulations over Mother Jones.

I always figured the NYT made the mistake of trusting some bias field office(like the infamous Guiliani/New York fiasco) and credulously ran the story.

I think I remember some stories saying that was the case, but I can't remember for sure.

If so, the way the networks ran Trump's Oval Office speech last week shows how, despite everything that has happened, the press is still making the same mistakes over and over.

The Russians probably targeted him BECAUSE he's a retard.
