The pivot is going to be, “campaign finance reform? Who cares!”

The great thing for Trump is that his base has the same US vs THEM mindset as their puff pastry blow hard in chief. There will never be a line where they say, OK, you got me, this guy is an unredeemable piece of shit.

Plus “you can’t indict a sitting president, it’s against the law” combined with “what crime?  He was never indicted!”

But, while they’re being disingenuous, violating campaign finance restrictions to influence an election *is* a lesser order of beast than colluding with a foreign state to influence an election.  In a way it would be comforting if it turns out that the electoral process was never interfered with at such a high level, and all that happened was the usual, routine  shady maneuverings of monied interests in politics.

^not routine shady maneuvering of money politics, but a potential constitutional violation of the emoluments clause.

And the Russian contacts between the Trump campaign at the highest levels (not directly involving Trump Sr, that we know of) and the constant lies and shifting rationales, are too numerous for me to give it justice. Just know this: the Russians gained unlawful entry to a secure computer system, and high level Trump associates/family/campaign officials had communication with WikiLeaks and then coordinated those leaks with the Trump campaign. The only missing question is if there is enough proof to criminally prosecute the president (on these charges I don't think there is proof that we know of yet) because it looks like many of those he has surrounded himself with are in very serious danger.

Quote

Journalists were kept away from a secret federal appeals court hearing on Friday in Washington, D.C., as officials sealed off an entire floor for arguments in a mysterious grand jury case which some believe could be related to the Special Counsel investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

And this is what he was talking about:

Because of course.

Continuing on a theme.

Even if you are someone that can't stand Hillary, and is inclined to believe the negative stories about her, Trump has basically done everything they accused Hillary of....but worse. And a whole bunch of other crimes on top of it.
