The Kavanaugh Confirmation Charade Thread

Recommended Posts

There was some thought that they would need to hold the vote open so one of the GOP senators could make it back to vote (his daughter is getting married basically at the same time as the vote), but it isn’t needed.

He’ll be confirmed around 3:30 eastern and John Roberts will likely swear him in this evening, and he’ll be at the court bright and early Tuesday morning.

Remember when she referred to W. as "Her Husband"... even though she's not married

And a lesbian to top it off.

I'm not surprised, but was that ever confirmed?

I think it’s one of those “everybody knows, but she’s a private person and doesn’t comment on it.” scenarios.

Absolute goblin

By base he means the senators who were already voting yes.

I was listening to Blumenthal talking about how if the Dems take over the goal should be to investigate why the investigation was limited, as if he doesn't already know why, not to re open the investigation and depending on the results impeach Kav or not. It sounded like all they're going to do in response is grandstand. Because they're all part of the same bull shit.

He also talked about how Republicans have been breaking norms and their goal should be to restore them. Fuck that, their goal should be to create a Conservative slaughterhouse. But instead they're doing to be civil. Fucking lame.

The best thing the Democrats could do for themselves  and their future hopes for winning the presidency is to uncap the size of the house.  It's been kept at 535 members since the 1929 apportionment act.  Increasing the size of the house will lead to more districts that they would likely win.  More importantly, it would create more electoral college votes, as that is based the number of senators plus representatives for each state.

My buddy said it’s the first time a SC nominee has been confirmed without a

majority of the Senate.

Is that a fair statement?

It is correct, though slightly misleading because it would have been 51 if Daines hadn’t been out of town for his daughter’s wedding. But it’s still the narrowest of confirmations.
