Is there anything you try to not leave the house without?

What are your constants if you’re going out for the day? Apart from the classic three of: phone, wallet/purse, and keys.

I tend to always bring a book, just in case, then if it’s more than just a shopping trip, probably a notebook and a pen.

Earbuds, lightsaber, taser, pen, and my backpack. There's also always a change of clothes in my car just in case.

Honorable mentions of things I often take but not guaranteed to get brought with me: my laptop, my iPad, my dignity, my medication.

I'm here talking about how I only occasionally have my medication on me and I just realized I'm 30 minutes late on taking my night pill. Considering it's my testosterone blocker I am REALLY bad at being queer.

My always-haves: Earbuds, keys, wallet, phone, lighter (don't smoke anymore but old habits and whatnot)

If I'm going to be gone all day (work, etc): Backpack, portable charger with necessary cables, extra layer if necessary, spare shirt in case I don't come home that night

On most trips out of the house I have a backpack that contains:

a leatherman

tape measure

Laptop + charger

2 legal sized note pads

a pack of felt tipped pens

a highlighter set

A bundle of various keys

coffee thermos

I was never a smoker but back in my college days I would regularly keep a lighter and pack of cigarettes on me because they were great for making friends. On a college campus there's never a lack of people with smokes but no lighter or a lighter with no smokes.

I found when I smoked that cigarettes were a great way to get people on the street to stop asking me for money.

”No, I don’t have any on me. Do you want a smoke?”

Worked every time. We can debate the ethics of giving away poison instead of money but I never give money on the street.

I bring my phone, wallet, and a few extra butt plugs. You just never know.

I hope you carry them on a clip attached to your belt loop. Or inside a trench coat arranged in neat rows.

When I was doing security I would get asked if I had a cigarette on me all the time. Which is weird because they don't see me smoking (and I don't smoke) and ask for a cigarette. I considered buying the nastiest cigarettes I could find just in case someone asked me for a smoke and I give them that. I never did though.

I did eventually carry a book of matches with me which I used occasionally. One time to a WOMAN, but nothing became of it. :p - I mean, not that I would want to with a stinky smoker.

Well, you just gotta meet on the street and exchange it in the hotel room. :batting:

“That was a great [sex act]. I don’t have any money…wanna smoke?”

I'm guilty of giving money to the homeless on many occasions. I had a regular that I'd meet everyday at a Sunoco where I'd give him a few bucks everyday. He was buying booze and drugs. :/

In my experience they mostly want someone to talk to. I had some guy come tell me he wanted to go lay down on the railroad tracks and kill himself because he had some terminal illness and wanted to see his daughter graduate or something in 3 years, but wouldn't live that long. I ended up letting him use my phone to call his wife in Hawaii in the middle of the night (Surprised she picked up) then said he needs to go to the hospital.

He came back a couple of more times just to talk and be sad and stuff.

This guy was very personable and would help keep Sunoco clean. He'd sweep and even shovel in the winter. But you're probably right he was lonely and looked forward to having conversation.
