Dr. Thomas O’Brien and his wife Ruth Reardon O’Brien, the parents of late night comedian Conan O’Brien, have died three days apart, 'The Boston Globe' reports. Thomas was 95 and Ruth was 92...

I know this can happen with old couples but that is still such a short timeframe. I can’t imagine how devastating this is for him. :(

That's gotta be devastating to him, but damn good on them for living such a long life, and staying married for that long. If only we could all find someone to love, and cherish for 66 years.

I think Conan is easily in my top 3 favorite famous people, comedian or otherwise. I love his comedic style, but mostly what I really admire about him is that even despite all of his fame and success, he seems to have his priorities right. I've heard so many stories of people meeting him in person and him being very gracious and kind.

Both on his TV shows and in his podcasts, he talks a lot about his family and especially his parents, always emphasizing what positive influences they were on him and what wonderful people they were in their own right; it's very clear that he loves and respects them a lot. I'm really sorry for his loss, though I know he'll never see this.

This feels lie it's up there with Weird Al's parents. And I mean that both in the circumstance of parents going together/close together but also that they're both such bright individuals in their respective industries that wouldn't deserve this in a million years if the universe was a just place.

So sad to hear of this, I hope Conan is doing well. This can't be an easy thing to go through.

My grandparents were married for 50-something years. While my grandma didn't die right after my grandpa did (she lingered on for another 5 years or so), her alzheimer's very sharply declined. She went from being relatively fine most of the time when my grandpa died to basically being a vegetable within about a year.

My parents have been married for 67 years. I see something very similar happening to them not too far out from now.

Conan was someone I looked up to as a young lad/teenager. RIP to his beautiful parents.
