General Gaming Let's talk anticipated (big) releases for the rest of the year

Plus a few others that might qualify to some: Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, Horizon Zero Dawn Remaster, Sonic X Shadow Generations and Slitterhead.

 

What are we most interested in here?  Good lineup / just okay / bad?  Though I'd ask considering the Assassin's Creed delay.

Forgot the latter two.  I put MS Flight Sim in before you posted, will update with Stalker 2.  Those absolutely count in my book.

I still need to finish Ys IX, but Ys VIII is one of my favorite JRPGs ever made, me and stepee talked about it a lot. Ys 7 and Memories of Celceta are also great, just smaller. I have to admit Ys IX didn't really grab me, but I do want to give it another crack, I think I was just getting burned out on games at the time.

Maybe just Dragon Age for me now that Shadow got delayed. I'm picking up the Dragon Quest remake though in November.

Yeah, I think the thread should be anticipated releases for the rest of the year since some of those -- I'm thinking Life is Strange, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake, Metaphor -- are likely not AAA at all since AAA is based on budget. Heck, I'm not even sure if the Mario games are as big of a budget as something like Indiana Jones, though maybe I missed something with Brothership. I definitely don't think Mario Party is.

Point taken.  I'd rather this be about the games.  It's hard enough to distinguish between what is AAA and not, but it gets even more nebulous in quantifying what is AA vs indie.  So I'll make this thread open season.

Man, the rest of the year sucks lol. DA:TV and then nothing until February for me.

 

But that will mean time to get back into the FF Grind. Still got to play 5-8 and then 10.

I agree that Ys VIII is one of the best JRPG's ever. I think what I liked most about it was the setting. It is a really vibrant game which helps a lot. 

 

Yes, Stepee bought me Ys IX and I've tried multiple times to get into it and it just never clicks for me.

To be fair, this is my plan for most games. Don’t gotta credit me every time. 
 

I bought Zelda, and that will probably be my last major purchase of the year.

I actually don't have any major anticipated games for the rest of the year. I'll keep an eye on Mario Luigi Brotherhood, though, and we'll see how Indiana Jones is since Uncharted was inspired by it, and I love UC.

Yea I'm not particularly anticipating any game for the rest of the year. But the list of games coming out is solid enough.

It's mostly credit for making me remember EA games come to game pass.

Getting Dragon Quest for sure. Likely Mario and Luigi if it reviews well.

Metaphor and DQ3 are definitely day 1.
 

Stalker 2, Silent Hill and Mario Brotherhood are on the list to buy/play as soon as I’m done with Metaphor and DQ3. 
 

Dragon Age… Meh. I loved Origins, but didn’t enjoy the second and despised Inquisition. I’ll play it when it’s cheap or free, unless I truly hear BioWare killed it, and that will take more than the word of Games “journalists”. There are about 3 games influencers I trust for opinions on games.

I enjoy 8, but hated 9. I started with Y’s 2 on the family’s 386 as a child. Good memories.

I might try Dragon Age and I will give Indiana Jones a play. I am not super excited for anything the rest of the year it seems. Not surprising. I think 2025 was shaping up to be a much bigger year.

I thought after the amazing year in 2023 that 2024 would be dry. I was mistaken. This year has been awesome even though I'm not jumping up for joy with the upcoming releases. It's still pretty damn good. 

 

Then next year we get the Switch 2 which will be dope af. And then my most anticipated game in GTA 6!

Have they ever added anything in the golden that was worth the wait? I doubt it

My hype is for Dragon Quest 3 & Romancing Saga 2. I’ll most likely also pick up Zelda, Ys X & Metaphore but will probably wait on the later two to see if they go on sale later this year (probably will).
