Keyser_Soze
This reminds me of a "joke" I almost told my dentist. The idea that you have to take care of your teeth but I wanted to say, "It won't matter because in 30 years we will have some cybernetic upgraded teeth and jaws" or something like that. For some reason that pic reminds me of the textures for Nemesis in the original Resident Evil 3. mclumber1
Neat! I had 2 baby molars up until my late 20s because I never had adult teeth 20 and 29 develop. Baby teeth aren't designed to last that long, so they eventually just fell apart and now I have two open spaces there. I also only had 3 wisdom teeth. I don't think this advancement helps me in any way, I just wanted to share.

Four grafts? What was the recovery like? I already wear a mouth guard. I had one for about two years before I started wearing it consistently and when I did I chewed through it in 6 months. I had changed jobs by the time I got a new one made so it only cost $200. I’m already putting good marks in the new one.

Kal-El814
I had 5 gum grafts or so. Despite being blessed with the gift of gab, I had 14 baby teeth and 8 adult teeth (4 of them were wisdom teeth) pulled to make room for the rest, and I still had little gun tissue to show for it. The gum surgery wasn't bad for me. I was making less money then, so I had them take the tissue from the roof of my mouth instead of using the synthetic stuff which was much more expensive at the time. The pain wasn't too bad, the throbbing the first day or so was annoying. Really the worst part was that they have to cover up the recovery sites with some packing material and you can't clean it or underneath it. So when it finally comes off or something you drink manages to get under there and come back out, it smells like something died in your mouth. Also this was long enough ago that they were still giving out pain meds like candy, the first time I had one of these done they gave me something bananas like 30 Vicodin or told me to just take Tylenol. Pick a fucking lane, dentists, Jesus.

Pick a fucking lane, dentists, Jesus. Uh, I don't think it's "synthetic stuff," it's cadaver tissue. And it's still more expensive, with also the risk of the tissue being rejected. I never really had any issue with stuff getting under the dressing, though I tried to be pretty careful what and how I ate and drank. Though the stuff on the roof of my mouth started to fall off after a week, the stuff over the gumline was always pretty secure until the periodontist removed it. And I would get a prescription for like a dozen hydrocodone and some high-dose ibuprofen and usually only ended up using a couple of hydrocodone in the first couple days.
