What's an item that constantly showed back up despite being perpetually lost?

Or maybe just got lost once but miraculously showed back up nonetheless.

I was just thinking of a pencil I had back in high school. Started freshman year. It was a generic No 2 pencil but easily recognizable because at some point I snapped it in half. Not being able to borrow a replacement pencil I taped the two halves together with blue painters tape. Between the tape and a couple identifying scratches on the pencil itself it was fairly recognizable.

I regularly would lose the pencil only for it to show up in random places. Sometimes a random kid in one of my classes would be using it, other times it would be found sitting in a teacher's pencil container. Sometimes it would just be somewhere random on campus. Nobody could ever recall how exactly it came to be in their possession but would always give it back. Last time I saw it was when I was starting off in college, some random student I hadn't met was using it in the lunch area for homework. I got it back but after I lost it the next time I never saw it again. I like to believe it's still out there going on adventures.

I have an old skateboarding hoodie that I got for Christmas when I was 14 or 15.  I loved that hoodie, wore it all the time for years, well into college as it slowly got more and more tattered.  I would forget it and it would show back up constantly, tucked under my bed, in the trunk of my car, then one day I lost it for good.  I tore apart my dorm, my parents house, everything.  I just accepted it was gone forever and forgot about.

Years later, I’m visiting friends at their apartment, a place I had never been before as they had recently moved in.  I use their bathroom, and after I washed my hands I turned to open the door and there hanging on a hook on the back of their bathroom door next to their towels was my hoodie.  They didn’t even put it there because I was coming, I had left it at a different apartment of theirs and they hung it up and forgot to tell me about it.  Then they moved, brought it along, hung it back up where it had been before the move meaning to tell me they had, then forgot about it again.  It had been chilling in their bathroom for years and it was just a part of the scenery and became invisible to them.

I still have that hoodie, if you could call it that anymore.  Every few years I have to patch some of the holes, but new ones come out and my wife refuses to let me leave the house with it on.
