US Army rebukes Trump campaign for incident at Arlington National Cemetery

The US Army issued a stark rebuke of former President Donald Trump’s presidential campaign over the incident on Monday at Arlington National Cemetery, saying in a statement on Thursday that participants in the ceremony “were made aware of federal laws” regarding political activity at the cemetery, and “abruptly pushed aside” an employee of the cemetery.

Quote

“Participants in the August 26th ceremony and the subsequent Section 60 visit were made aware of federal laws, Army regulations and DoD policies, which clearly prohibit political activities on cemetery grounds. An ANC employee who attempted to ensure adherence to these rules was abruptly pushed aside,” the Army spokesperson said in the statement on Thursday.

The Army’s statement is a rare rebuke from a military service is loath to get in the middle of highly political issues. It’s also not the first time there has been a controversy involving Trump related to the military as his campaign looks to make the chaotic US withdrawal from Afghanistan under the Biden administration a key election issue.

In at least one photo posted online, the grave of an Army Special Forces soldier who died by suicide is also featured; his family has since said they did not give the campaign permission to do so. The grave of Master Sgt. Andrew Marckesano, a Silver Star recipient, sits next to that of Marine Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover.

A statement from Marckesano’s sister on behalf of their family said that while they supported families of the 13 fallen “in their quest for answers and accountability regarding the Afghanistan withdrawal and the tragedy at Abbey Gate,” the Trump campaign “did not adhere to the rules” of Section 60.

“[A]ccording to our conversation with Arlington National Cemetery, the Trump Campaign staffers did not adhere to the rules that were set in place for this visit to SSGT Hoover’s grave site in Section 60, which lays directly next to my brother’s grave,” the statement from Michele Marckesano said. “We hope that those visiting this sacred site understand that these were real people who sacrificed for our freedom and that they are honored and respected accordingly.”

I’m so tired of the disgusting and awful people in the Trump orbit. It’s just the biggest jackasses on the planet who know they can get away with anything cause their fans are violent psychopaths and will threaten and bully victims into staying quiet. Fucking disgusting pigs. The whole lot. If you resonate with those people, you need to take a deep and honest look at your life and wonder where it all went so wrong.

I’m convinced that if someone would have promised to protect the families of any senator who voted to convict Trump of his crimes for the J6 impeachment we wouldn’t have to worry about Trump now at all.

Sounds like the family of one of the soldiers whose tombstone is visible in the photos is actually suing the Trump campaign? It looks like this is maybe blowing up. It’s so hard to figure out what will stick to this man since he does like one thing every week that would destroy most politicians careers and the world just kinda goes LOL and moves on.

This is why Pelosi committed such horrible malpractice by not immediately calling a vote on Omar's article of impeachment, the one reasonable chance of getting to 60 was while everybody's blood pressure was sky-high from what had just happened. Plus the Trump psychos are already there trying to kill you so a brief moment of "can't make it worse by voting to remove him".

Honestly this might be the slip up that finally seals his demise. Between this and the Medal of Honor comment I think it's pretty clear now that him calling service members "suckers and losers" is a real quote and it is going to lose him enough votes to give Harris the win.

I mean, even if he was allowed to film there and no one got pushed or anything... the very act of posing for a photo in front of the grave of a dead American soldier with a big shit eating grin and a thumbs up should be enough all by itself.

I know it's the oldest fucking line of thinking in the world, but if any Democrat did that exact same thing, it would follow them for the rest of their lives. It would be the lead story on Fox for weeks and weeks.

It's so fucking pathetic the mental gymnastics they do to create these flimsy attacks on democrats and then spin them into these big deals while completely and totally ignoring dozens and dozens of things that Trump does that they would be all over in a fucking heartbeat if literally anyone else did them.

I want to visit an alternate reality where Melania Trump was the wife of a Democratic president. Oh my God, that would be something to behold.

Can you even imagine? I mean, seriously... just that alone.

A foreigner trophy third wife... from a socialist country... who posed nude... who he had an affair with while married... who is 24 years younger... whose immigration story is full of weird discrepancies...

They would lose their fucking minds.

I posted this video in the other thread but Trump actually blames the family that invited him for posting the campaign style video he took with them at Arlington on HIS campagn tik-tok. (He at least suggests that it may have been them that did it.)

Its not theyre already calling it a ploy by the Dems. They insist Trump was invited and that family members gave permission for the photos (guess the rules of the installation dont count).. Family members have already been on Newmax saying they had no issue with Trump as he was their guest..

Granted all that doesnt cover everyone involved bit its all they need to spin the narrative

The Armys statement ensured not to mention Trumps name too.. You mention Afghan and dead troops and the MAGAts instantly go to blaming Biden/Harris for personnel who died when leaving Afghan.. nothing on Trump, he even called generals incompetent and responsible for Afghan defeat

My sweet summer child

Chuds don’t actually give a fuck about the military outside of the imagined connection they swear they have to it cause they’re “real men” despite having lacked the balls/discipline to enlist and only real men are in the military, like them, despite not having been in or having been a fobbit.

But there's lots of chuds who are/were in the military.

The amount of attention the right wing shitlords give to the 13 soldiers who died during the withdrawal is so fucking dishonest and gross. 2,500 soldiers died in that stupid fucking pointless war that lasted 22 years and was started by republicans based on a lie. To only focus on those 13 is so disingenuous, so dishonest, so manipulative so fucking disgusting…. It’s just total horseshit bad faith nonsense. 68 soldiers died on trump’s watch, why not talk about those soldiers. Why didn’t Trump go visit their graves? Thousands died under Obama and Bush, why won’t the media talk about those soldiers?

These news sites barely fucking mentioned that war for like 15 years straight. Most Americans didn’t even remember we were over there it was talked about so little, and then when we’re finally getting out and suddenly they won’t shut up about the final .05% of casualties that happened on the last day? Shut the fuck up. SHUT THE FUCKING FUCK UP YOU DUMB STUPID FUCKS.

Also, Trump is the one who set the pullout in motion.

Military chuds that vote against Trump because of this and his other actions could be the tipping point.

No consideration for the families of the veterans who didn't want pictures of their loved ones' headstone with Orange Julius.

Which is also the "funny" thing here. However fucking heinous this and how illegal it was to use Arlington Cemetery as a campaign stop, I'm guessing the Army doesn't issue a statement if Trump hadn't made other veterans' families' involuntary participants in the stunt and the media just moves on from it within a couple of days.

James McCain (John McCain's youngest son) changed his party affiliation from R to D and is voting for Harris over this. This one has hit different for some reason, maybe it's the several lies Trump has made around it instead of just taking responsibility for the mistake, or that enough people aren't letting this just go away like everything else (some people on the news have said they are not going to stop talking about this).

When former President Donald Trump held a campaign event at Arlington National Cemetery last week, First Lieutenant Jimmy McCain says he viewed it as a “violation.”
