Yeah this is horrible. And far-right populism is rising in Canada on the back of massive price inflation in housing (we're talking $2 million + for a detached 1,200-sqft bungalow in Vancouver or Toronto) as well as anti-immigration.

Yep. Here is what is happening in Canada:

 

- Housing prices are through the roof (imagine whatever you think is the worst in the US, and multiple by 10)

- The solution is building more housing

- Governments are changing code to allow for much more dense housing everywhere

- People are mad that a 4-storey building might be built next to their mcmansion

 

Effectively, people are both mad that houses are expensive, but also mad at the only solution.
