Greatoneshere
Writer/director Jason Reitman is pretty underrated (yes, the son of Ivan Reitman), I'm always down for anything he makes, they tend to be off-kilter but really well done drama movies with solid comedy in them. I mean, he dropped three bangers in a row with Thank You For Smoking, Juno and Up in the Air. Then good but not quite great movies Young Adult, Labor Day, Men Women & Children and Tully. I know Young Adult and Men Women & Children were divisive but I think especially in retrospect those movies were better than a lot of movies we're getting these days (Labor Day and Tully are great, though little seen by most). The Front Runner (with Hugh Jackman) was a significant step down in quality for sure but while I didn't watch it it seems like most people really liked Ghostbusters: Afterlife (he did not direct the newer one, The Frozen Empire, which people did not seem to like). And now this movie. I'm all in and I hope it's good, maybe even another Jason Reitman banger maybe. I haven't been interested in a movie of his since 2018 with Tully since I didn't like The Front Runner and I have no interest in Ghostbusters (I get he did it for his dad, etc.) so it's nice I get to look forward to a Jason Reitman joint again after 6 years (6 years for Jeremy Saulnier too from the other thread, weird). TwinIon
I was pretty skeptical after hearing the pitch, but I do like Jason Reitman's stuff and the trailer worked for me. The structure reminds me of Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs movie, but with a much larger ensemble. It could be impressive if it all comes together. I just looked and was mildly surprised that Peacock does seem to have the entire run of SNL, all the way back to that pilot. Sems like something that might be fun to watch before this comes out.
TheLeon
I’m hoping for the best. It’s a fun cast - I got a chuckle out of the young stars of Licorice Pizza and The Fabelmans teaming up in another “prestige” period movie.
Brick
I'm definitely using "I tripped over my penis" next time I tumble lol.

Dude's probably made better movies than his dad at this point (in terms of dramas, nothing touches Stripes, etc.) yet here we are.

He made a couple of great movies, I mean: Stripes, Ghostbusters, and Draft Day on top of Dave. Not sure why I said Caddyshack earlier, I meant Stripes. However, he had a lot of movies in the cultural zeitgeist that weren't that good like Meatballs, Twins, Ghostbusters II, Fathers' Day, Legal Eagles, Kindergarten Cop, Junior, Evolution, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, No Strings Attached and more. By comparison, I'd argue Jason Reitman is not only making more grounded, dramatic films but ones saying more than most of Ivan Reitman's films.

I still love Meatballs and maybe it’s the Canadian in me and being filmed here, but it was my beginning/end of the summer when this played on CityTV afternoon movies (which are long gone, but great when I was a kid) Still love this scene

Meatballs is definitely one of his better "mid" movies and that scene is great! I think Kindergarten Cop and Evolution have value too, but good movies? I dunno. Have you seen Jason's work? Yeah, I make jokes, but honestly most “nepo baby!” accusations in the entertainment industry are pretty lame. Having famous/successful parents in your chosen field obviously gives you a boost, but eventually you’ve got to actually do the work, and that work should be judged on its own merits. Jack Quaid has had some good quotes to that effect recently.
