Greatoneshere
I haven't seen Sailor Moon since the edited version of the original 90's show used to play back to back with Dragon Ball Z on Cartoon Network in the very early mornings before I had to go to school in middle school (maybe also high school, but I was more into Toonami in the afternoons after school by then and that block didn't have Sailor Moon) . That show was edited for TV and I definitely watched it out of order (and not all of it) but I know the manga and the original show have a huge following, particularly among female anime fans my age. All I know is that the new reboot/remake show, Sailor Moon Crystal, has this two-part movie coming out after already releasing three TV seasons and a previous two-part film. Seems like fans were split on the quality of the new show if I recall.

Same for me but basically like 5am on the WB or something. It's been so long but this looks pretty good.

Pretty sure to understand the film you have to watch all the previous Sailor Moon Crystal stuff.

It's a lot shorter (39 episodes and two 2-part films for the new show vs. 200 episodes and 3 TV specials for the old show) so it's much easier to watch, which helps. A reminder that the original manga wasn't that long, just 18 volumes ultimately.

A reminder that the original manga wasn't that long, just 18 volumes ultimately. Only three episodes,. but it already doesn't have the weak pacing issues many filler-y anime from the 90s and 00s had. Animation is great too. It might be hard to swallow for fans of the original since many favorite arcs were filler and that's before you get to any of the changes made for the 90s localization. I'm enjoying it. Funnily enough, I was actually in the mood for a magical girl series, so this all works out for me. Last magical girl series I watched was Gushing Over Magical Girls...really not going to watch that one with my kids unless I want to end up in jail. Actually, I think I'm going to blame the recent announcements of a new Creamy Mami anime... ...along with the announcement of a Magic Knight Rayearth reboot series... Now all we need is a new Revolutionary Girl Utena, Card Captor Sakura, Phantom Thief Jeanne, and Wedding Peach.

I'm enjoying it. This is the upside/downside of closer adaptations. In the past few years I've come to appreciate filler (well, good filler at least) as a time to see and experience and learn about characters we usually don't get to see as much of doing more benign things with other characters - we learn about them by just wasting time with them. With all these TV shows now being 8, 10, or 12 episodes, often only one or two seasons at that, it's just not enough time to learn much except what we have to learn about the characters for the plot, and it's plot that usually takes over for most of these shorter shows over character development and growth. That being said, 200 episodes is a lot, but I guess fans liked the filler arcs in Sailor Moon.
LazyPiranha
I’m more interested in whether or not certain sailors are “cousins” in the new version or not.

Keyser_Soze
I didn't know Sailor Moon Crystal was on Netflix until now, that makes it easier to do this.
