skillzdadirecta
I remember getting this on bootleg VHS back in the day when it was called “Wind Ninja Chronicles”. Had never seen anything like it before… still one of my all time favorite anime movies. Movies period. I’ll definitely be seeing this on the big screen,
Keyser_Soze
The guy with the bee holes in his back always creeped me out.
Greatoneshere
Great, classic film whose newest release awhile back has an excellent video transfer. Directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri, who is simply a master at this stuff (Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, etc.).
Kal-El814
This was one of my first anime back in the day, as I suspect it was for a bunch of people around my age. What a vibe. 1

Funny story, I went to a local comic store today that wasn’t too far from the comic store I went to growing up. Turns out, it’s the same store… they just moved. THIS was the place I got my bootleg copy of Ninja Scroll from back in the day. The owner recognized me and I him, turns out he used to work there when I was shopping there and bought the store from the original owners. We reminisced about all of the bootleg anime I used to buy from them,DBZ, the original Streetfighter animated movie as well as classic Hong Kong action films. Great times.

Spawn_of_Apathy
This was my gateway anime. Rented it from Blockbuster on VHS years before Toonami and anime on Cartoon network was a thing.

Seeing that thing on the shelf at Blockbuster with "not for kids" sticker meant I needed to see it.

The bootleg I had translated that line as "Burn in hell mother fucker!" 4 hours ago, Keyser_Soze said: That would be Akira for me. If you really want to go deep, I was really exposed to anime as a little kid with the Shogun Warriors cartoons, Starvengers, Gaiking, Grendizer and Danguard Ace. Voltron and Robotech were techincally anime was well, but we didn't call it that at the time.
