gamer.tv
As a marriage unit (and someone working in the mental health field) my wife is very confident I have ADHD. Not significant to the point where it’s impacting anything overly in my life, but from her, enough that’s there’s clear and obvious signs. In discussion about it, I agree with her, but we also both agree that it probably doesn’t impact my life and a diagnosis would be more to satisfy curiosity. That said, anyone had a diagnosis and what were the positives/negatives of knowing?

No, but I’ve been becoming more confident in recent times that I may have some kind of undiagnosed adhd but anyway I was wondering what is everyone doing this weekend? SoberChef
Seeing as I don't believe in coincidences, this is eerily creepy in a way that this topic got posted. I had seen my PCP just two days ago, having a couple weeks prior walked up to my doc about my concern that I do happen to not only have ADD/ADHD, but that it's become more apparent to the point that I can't ignore it. Went to my appointment, he gave me a questionairre to work on, and while I definitely underplayed it (choosing typically the next level down from what reality is & summarily showing my wife the results & her saying "Would you be fucking honest w/ our doctor so he can treat you properly!?") so yeah I began Ritalin 10mg 3x daily, today is my 2nd day taking it. I've always had racing thoughts in my head, which at times I can't even stop. Then there's the fidgeting I do constantly, always being a procrastinator on deadlines (has plagued me since my youth), a multitude of other things that I had to come to grips with. What's good though is that, seeing as such a medication doesn't interact w/ alcohol well, this will also help me focus on not indulging on the weekends as much if at all going forward. Hopefully after a week or two of taking this, I'm hoping perhaps something will "CLICK" in place and something will change to the positive. First time being on any such medication in my life. That mental health stigma really IS real, even though I work in the field, it's totally different when it's yourself & not a client. Anywho, so yeah I'm diagnosed.
Brick
I know I got tested as a kid, but came back negative. Nowadays though with more advancements in the field I often wonder if I got tested again now if they would catch something they missed all those decades ago. Would certainly explain some of my quirks.

Haya Dune
I have a friend who is using grey-market adderall to self medicate because it makes them focused. I think they probably have undiagnosed ADHD.
TheBladeRoden
I got an Asperger's diagnosis at 17, so I cannot be of help
Slug
Had a pal who had it diagnosed as an adult. I can ask next time I talk to him, but there weren't any real positives or negatives AFAIK. Everyone pretty much just went, "well that explains some shit" and moved on.
