M-Con: A fan-made start up that basically turns any MagSafe mobile into a PSP Go/Xperia Play.

This is a very cool concept and one that I have wanted for a while. Something that allows for controller support on a mobile without the bulky clip controllers or side attaching controllers. Something that's actually pocketable as all one piece. There seems to be a little depth that could be shaved off this thing in later iterations to make it more pocketable, but at this point it looks to be about the size of a battery case so already pretty dang cool.

It's a two piece slider "case" that allows you to attach a MagSafe phone to it like so.....

You can even separate the Mag-Safe part from the controller like Joycons to play on a tabletop or just to make the two parts more portable. The Magsafe half even has a built in stand.....

Oh, and if it weren't clear the soft case in all these shots is not part of the product. It's just that there are limited beauty shots that I can find pretty much anywhere right now. Here are the two shots I could find without the soft case.....

Update on the M-Con V1 (also I have questions for you guys) : r/Delta_Emulator

Here's the announcement video.....

I like the concept... in theory. But flat controllers and especially flat controllers with recessed buttons have never felt good to me at all. I'd rather just have a bag or a backpack than try to make this thing work.

Not a bad concept. I think something more universal would have been better option. Their design means they need to have cases for all the iPhone sizes which defeats the whole point of MagSafe.

Going further, not tailoring the case for specific iPhone models would make it Qi 2 compatible. That would have given them access to both the Apple and Android markets.

I was gonna say, you can just get a magsafe case for your Android that is effectively the same thing (I had one for a bit, didn't find it tremendously useful) but if they're tailoring it for specific sizes, that's very silly.

Yeah, Apple opened MagSafe up so it's now pay of the Qi 2 standard. Any Android manufacturer can make their add MagSafe to their phones since it's just pay of the wireless standard now. Is expect to start seeing more Android phones with MagSafe as a standard in the coming years.

I actually do have a MagSafe case on my Z Fold 5. I mostly use it for charging. It's slower, but it is nice to be able to just stick a battery to the back of my phone instead of carrying around a portable battery with cable. Same goes for charging at night. I have a MagSafe charger just mounted to the side of my night stand. Being able to no look stick my phone there is nice.

I also have a MagSafe strip on my LG V60 Android. Out of all the stuff Apple has done, MagSafe has been the one that I am really jealous of. It is just so cool for peripherals. The guy in his video basically said he hit a roadblock on this design until he realized it was perfect for MagSafe.

I got the impression that this is about as one size fits all as is feasible with the design.

The Slider mechanism on the camera bump side means it can only go so far in that direction. And if you look at the skinny part of the case that wraps around the camera bump it appears as though it's lifted to make room for a camera bump that is not specifically designed for it. I guess he could remove that little wrap around altogether, but I would guess it might hurt the structural integrity of the whole thing.

The only other restriction on one size fits all seems to be the width of the phone crowding the d-pad and face buttons. But really, there isn't THAT much variation in the width of small phones and even really big phones nowadays(it's mostly height). For instance, I just checked the Iphone 15 vs. Iphone 15 Max. The former is 71.6mm wide while the latter is 76.7mm. So literally half a centimeter(and really only half of that, since half the width would be going "up" and half the width would be going "down" towards the buttons/d-pad.). So that seems negligible.
