So what you're saying is you've never played a resident evil game? :p

No I've played them all, I just keep hoping they'll actually evolve the controls/inventory. It's freaking 2019 afterall

The controls are perfectly fine (as in extremely smooth and responsive) and I question how you find them clunky in any way, shape or form.

The inventory is a critical part of resource management and puzzle solving, it's not something that needs to be "evolved," especially since it's a goddamn remake.

Not every game needs to be homogenized into the fucking ground because it's the current year.

What's everyone's favorite RE game?  4 was the first one that I really got into, so I'd say that, but I also don't have much of an attachment to the older games.  I played some of RE 2 on Dreamcast but never got very far.

REmake or 2 are my favorite.

Changes, no spoilers but I'll mark it so. https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/179835-resident-evil-2/77404944

Spoiler

there are actually no spiders or crows.
no super licker
ivy enemies are completely different. its now zombies with plant-like parasites that instakills you with a grab
Mr. X cannot be killed in first encounter, only temporarily downed
rogue mode isn't in so its possibly DLC
there is no camera option at all
G-mutants are now regular enemies
Minigun became a regular weapon instead of an unlockable weapon
Also, he only did Scenario A so keep that in mind.

Beat it in 5 hours and some change.

There is a Hardcore mode, and that seems to be the only mode that uses ink ribbons.

The plant enemies:

Gladly, my play times are always like triple of everyone else because I'm slow as all hell.

And that enemy looks dumb as fuck but that may just be the image quality...I hope.

The guy was not taking his time and did not get every weapon so it will no doubt be longer for most people, however I doubt it is going to take 10 hours for one play-thru.

RE games are always quite short so I was mainly Larry David-ing the rest of that info anyway. I especially don't mind this one being not terribly long seeing how much fun it was to actually fuck those zombies up. Wouldn't mind playing that several times.

Didn't they say it would not have multiple story modes like the original, or was that some kind of mistranslation at E3?

That was what I thought a well

Spoiler

but it seems that you unlock something similar to scenario B after beating it.

The old RE’s are longer than people probably remember. People rave about 4’s pacing, but I always felt like they drug 4 out for too long.

You can certainly blast through the old ones pretty quickly if you know what you’re doing, but they all had a certain curve of understanding your limitations and then solving the puzzles - which a lot of is just knowing which items to take with you.

Yeah it is great pacing. Until the FUCKING ISLAND!

I've never seen the issue with that section at all and why it's deemed so utterly horrid myself. All the lab shit there is super creepy and I really like how balls to the wall tense it gets here.

Regenerators, or whatever they're called, are also some of my favorite RE enemies.

I mean once I knew what I was doing I could easily beat RE7 in under 2 hours, and I think closer to an hour on my faster playthroughs. Someone trying to blast through this game in 5 hours while ignoring stuff isn't surprising at all. The average person actually threatened by the zombies and trying to deal with them without having any foreknowledge about the game will probably easily hit 10 hours. I think my old RE1 playthroughs were well over 10 hours because I found the mansion confusing when I was younger and also the zombies scared the crap out of me as a kid. That cheesy ass reveal of the first zombie haunted me for years!

Lol exactly. I still get scared by the zombies and the idea of leaving any of them alive is unacceptable to me. So yeah it takes me a bit longer to get through these games haha

I never trust any completion times like this when it's revealed in context of my personal playstyles.

People somehow beat Bloodborne in like 20+ hours and there was a huge drama and it took me fucking 70 because I actually enjoy playing and exploring games.

I really hope Mr. X isn't too far up your ass as a stalker type enemy. Based on quite a few reviews I've checked out, it kind of sounds like he's omnipresent after a certain point and even shooting your gun attracts him.

I mean...

Doesn't seem like you'll have to worry all that much.
