I beat Leon A for the first time, got a C rating.

Glad I saved like 4 super herb things for the end of the game.

Yup, this didn't end up like, "I saved 80 ethers for the end of Final Fantasy and only needed a couple."

I used the shit out of those herbs.

Damn game has me in a RE mood. Currently.playing RE5 with my husband in co-op mode. I played it on PS3 when it came out and he played it back in the day with one of his college roommates. Still having fun, though.

I also re-installed RE4 and Revelations on my PC with the intent to replay them, as it's been years.

Husband also wants to watch me play scenario B as Claire in the REmake2.

So I rented this game over the weekend (yes, I'm the one weirdo that uses Redbox for movies and games). I didn't buy it because I'm trying to stick to a budget, and the demo didn't really sell me. I played through Claire's story and mostly enjoyed it.

Other than a couple of jumps, I didn't think it was all that scary. Lickers would get my blood pumping, but the regular zombies are more annoying than anything. If I shoot a zombie in the head 3 times and it goes down, I want it to stay down, not pop back up 15 seconds later so I can just shoot it a few more times. Also, I want every zombie game to have a head smash button. If I walk into a room and see a bunch of corpses on the floor, I know at least half of them are zombies, and I want to preemptively smash in some skulls.

Item management was less frustrating than I was anticipating. Having enough item boxes where you really need them was huge, and having the location of items and points of interest on the map made the juggling a lot less tedious than it could have been.

At this point, I'm not in a hurry to play more, so I'll wait until I can buy it for cheap.

Having beaten it makes me want to go back and play the original RE2.

I was thinking about this recently: I think all remakes should have the original game in it.

Shadow of the Beast did that, but everything from Yakuza to Shadow of the Colossus to RE2 should have the original for comparison's sake, to appreciate the original and, hey, maybe you'll find the original look endearing in its own way.

This one should atleast. It's excellent but different enough that I'd say replaying the original is not a bad idea. It's not like REmake 1 which was the same game with better graphics, new gameplay elements, and new story elements. Other then nostalgia there is no real reason to play RE1.

I do feel the files you find are a step down from the originals as well.

The B scenarios are kinda half assed with Remake 2 as well.

How do you unlock that?

You have to break all Mr. Raccoon toys...which is a fucking pain in the ass since there are exclusive ones to Claire and Leon respectively and so on.

However, it's really fun ultimately. I'm doing Hardcore with it and dismembering zombies to death after shooting a leg off.

Ha, I didn't know that. Well shucks.

I just started a hardcore run last night and swapped the soundtrack to the original.  It's amazing!  Gives the the game a different vibe, but it's such an incredible soundtrack.  I highly recommend trying it if you haven't.

I did my first Leon A playthrough with the Remake soundtrack, switched to Classic OST after and never went back. There's a cheesy track here and there but the save room, main hall, morgue, sewer etc. tunes are worth it alone and elevate the game massively as far as I'm concerned.

Remake soundtrack is basically non-existent and I don't think the game's ambient sound design is strong enough to carry the entire game ala Dark Souls. I'm still baffled they thought playing the Remake save room theme once for like 10 seconds EVER was cool.
